rapid city your low on tuesday was only 7 degrees. that's the lowest on record for the day. many record-low temperatures have been set in many places. the cooler air is meeting with hot and juicy air from the gulf of mexico creating another day of severe weather in the gulf coast up to the northeast coast. there is a possibility of tornados, damaging winds and large hail and due to excessive amounts of rain, flash floods are happening in many places, include new york state. across the west, there's another spot of nasty weather, severe weather has been continuing in and around the central rockies. as we go into wednesday, the bad weather will likely make its way to the south. but there is no rainfall to improve the drought conditions over the western areas of the u.s. up into british columbia and temperatures are quite sizzling. take a look. nearly 30 degrees in seattle. over 40 degrees in las vegas and nearly 26 degrees in los angeles. but to the north, it's cooler than average as i mentioned, only 20 in chicago. that's more like september. and in oklahoma city, 22 degrees.
