we expect michael bloomberg and new york please commissioner ray kelly to attend. what they are going to unveil its latest tool for the new york city police department called the domain awareness system. what this essentially is is it allows the city to monitor various videos and examine the video with police databases. how can that be applied? here's an example that was given. it's a suspicious package is located on the street. the police will now have the ability to easily look at video of that specific location and go back a number of days and see who placed that package at the location. what is interesting about this system is that it uses not only cameras that are owned and operated by the city and police department, but also cameras that are owned by private businesses, they can also voluntarily take part. just a few days ago, the police commissioner a little bit of a preview of how it works. >> what it does is aggregate a lot of the information that we have through cameras. we put it through databases that make it a one-stop shop for investigating. especiall
