red cross gail mcgovern. thank you for joining us this morning. >> good morning. thank you for having me on your show. >> let's get right to these questions here. know he you all need a lot of support. how is the red cross helping the thousands of people affected by the devastating flooding rig n louisiana? >> first of all, at the peak of this, we had 10,000 people living in shelters, about 50 shelters across the state. even last night, we had about # thousand people in 35 shelters. our hearts go out to the people that have been impacted. it is really devastating. we're serving meals. we have served about 100,000 blankets, hygiene kits. our wonderful volunteers and staff are in these shelters helping people out. it is a really widespread disaster and as you said, it is our largest response since superstorm sandy. >> so a lot of people want to help. what are the greatest needs right now for the thousands of people in the shelters? >> first of all, we can always use volunteers. people can go to our and voluntee
