i was treated rell relatively well by fellow inmates. i was astonished at who was in jail. first of all, there were very few women. there were about 75 women and several hundred men in separate areas. the only time you were together was at bible class, which made that class extremely popular. but apart from that it was totally segregated except for the deputies, some of whom were male. and the women really surprised me because some of them it turned out i learned after i got out of jail were actually quite violent but in an incarcerated facility like that you just get a chance to talk at great length to people and you don't see them as potential killers or potential -- potentially violent people. what i found interesting was that at the end of that three-month period and because so many people were cycling through the jail i concluded that most of the women who were there should not have been there. that what they really needed was drug rehabilitation programs, marriage counseling, or significant other counseling. because a lot of them weren't married. but these were women
