major ridge is one of the principal leaders. the signers, as lindsay stated had no authority just before the cherokee nation. the congress gratified this treaty in 1836 by only single vote. it was signed by president andrew jackson on may 23rd. the chair's were given two years from that day to remove. the principal chief of tribal council competed in the efforts to oppose removal but to no avail. in late may of 1838, general winfield scott and his troops began to round up our people. the removal force had been constructed throughout the cherokee nations places to temporarily contain the cherokee's as they were gathered up for removal. full several of these forces have been constructed a couple years before during the creek removal. several hundred creeks had fled to the cherokee nation to avoid removal and soldiers had gone throughout the cherokee nation in an attempt to find them. it is sometimes questioned as would -- why the cherokee's did not go ahead and remove as they were aware of the force being constructed. reverend ste

unfortunately, they're going right over the top of this ridge of high pressure in this ridge is just too strong. it's not a huge ridge, but it just strong enough to bump these storm systems just a little bit further just to the north of the so they continue to track over the top of it. and so occasionally the flatten out that ridge a little bit and our temperatures will cool down like today. but as a systems move on by high pressure builds back in behind it. >> and our temperatures warm up once again and we stay dry out there. we have seen some gusty winds around the bay area. some of those winds continuing tonight, 24 mile an hour winds at sfo 22 in fairfield. still that onshore breeze continuing to san francisco at 1615 miles per hour in pacific up overnight tonight likely to see a couple of patches of fog and hazy out there over the bay right now that sea breeze brings of that moisture in the atmosphere in our skies no rain. unfortunately, the temperatures. they took a hit today. we're doing this all week long. it's been up one day down the next day and up one day and well, today

for today that ridge of high pressure in control for us. shore winds helping those temperatures to rise and climb as we go through our afternoon. still a warm day inland. we start to see the on shore flow. that ocean breeze slowly kicking in by the water it. will be cooler along the coast for tomorrow. plenty of sun on future cast as we go through tomorrow. again, we are looking at temperatures along the coast and around the bay just a bit cooler and maybe some high clouds streaming in. rainfall verses average 37 to 40% about average for the water year. its been very dry for us. our drought monitor to show you a severe what extreme drought for the bay area. big concern as we head into wildfire season. the sunrise at 6:17 and the sunset at 7:57. daytime highs for the south bay we go. looking at 81 in santa clara. morgan hill you will see a high of 82. we are looking at hypes right campll and 80 for coopertino. as we look to the east bay mid- 80s's concord. mid-60s's daley city. this afternoon and reaching 82 in windsor. here is the extended

that ridge brought you the nice warm temperatures today.in the mid 80's and some of the valley's today. so well above the average for this time of year. and i think tomorrow maybe not in those temperatures down a few degrees but still above normal for this time of year outside right still fairly warm in places like san jose at 63 have a cocker. you're looking to 71 degrees outside right now. 70 in antioch, 65 degrees a little more. it's cooler actually approaching the coastline somewhat unusual, but the water's right along the coastline have been remaining very, very cold in the 40's in the 50's netscape those temperatures much cooler up toward the beaches. all right. here's the long-range forecast model. and right now you can see the jet stream is headed. well to the north all riding right over the top of - the ridge that's sitting across california right now. next couple days. that ridge starts to weaken just a little bit. not enough to allow the rain to come our way. but you see those clouds beginning to move overhead starting tomorrow.

this high pressure ridge is set up. as you can see, it's just it.t's the jet stream trying to illustrate there. it goes up over the top and what goes over the top this time of year, it pretty much stays drive for a while. this high is known as the pacific high, and that's basically the dominant summertime feature. it'll wobble around up north and south, but it'll generally stay put and when it does, we start to warm up. the fog sets up when we get into our summer pattern, so. see how that works out. but right now, we had temperatures today. like these tomorrow's temperatures will be warmer by a good five and eight degrees. so we're going to see some mid eighties easily, maybe some operating as well. i think most warming will crew right around the bay were instead of mid sixties you'll be in the mid seventies there fog trying to reform of the coast. but the fog doesn't really come back and earnest until thursday at the coast. so thursday will be a little cooler coast side, but in that, i think will still see mid eighties, so it's gonna be nice couple

we've been in the midst of a high pressure ridge. for well over 30 days now that high pressure ridge not having as much of an influence anymore. we're gradually cooling down as we work our way into the weekend today and tomorrow. you're most comfortable days. there's a few reasons why. first of all, we've got sunshine this afternoon. temperatures will be nice and mild. and the 3rd factor here, winds a lot calmer than yesterday. yesterday, a blustery one today as winds calm down, actually a chance to get out there and hopefully enjoy some of that sunshine today and tomorrow are going to be the calmest and the nicest of this forecast before weekend cool down. that's going to take us down into the low 60's under warmest by sunday. today on the other hand, still in the 70's san jose in mountain view redwood city concord in livermore among areas that are back in the 70's after yesterday's 60's antioch at 79. definitely know. don't need a jacket over there while oakland hayward and san francisco keep the jacket on hand in the 60's still go
