just taking out this road. tearing it into pieces. taking out the road. also on o the other side of the center of this town. and now the only way to access it is through these back roads on at v's. 800 people are in the center of this town waiting for supplies. essentially trapped because the only way to get out would be to walk or to ride on an atv. officials are out here hurrying as quick as they can to clean up this road. their major concern is the ability to get emergency vehicles in there in case a type of emergency should arise. 260 roads look just like this across the state. it's almost impossible to drive from one end of the state of vermont to the other because it takes so long and there's so many roadblocks. we've been told by emergency management officials that 30 trucks from fema have arrived and national guard troops are starting to distribute some supplies to these areas. 19 towns in vermont are currently isolated and the national guard is expected to start today and tomorrow airlifting and driving in supplies to these residents. so far, thr

, you have regional roads and you have local roads. so for some regional administration has to take care for the locality administration. so this is mainly a guideline that has to support local administrations in their work. and why do local administrations need this? because there is a regional regulation that says that all our local authorities need to have a local mobility plan. i heard this morning about a problem like neighbors complaining when things have to be changed and the whole debate that is coming up then. but i think we have it similar because it's our local mayors who sometimes are hesitating to put into practice -- that's one of the reasons why those cycling routes sometimes get stuck, because you have a regional cycling route, but local authorities, we have 19 in brussels, local authorities do have to give permits for that. there is a lot of criticism on that and i heard my dutch colleague say one hour ago, you can get stuck because at local levels people don't like it, although your regional plan is to be so good. tha

the major roads. the governor and emergency crews say that about 260 roads here in this state alone are currently flooded. big issue with that is that some of these smaller communities have actually been cut off because the bridges and roads leading in and out of town have been or are now currently underwater. governor shulman is warning people not to get out in your cars and drive today unless absolutely necessary. there's a concern that although the surface of the roads will be okay to drive over, the ground underneath has washed away which could turn the areas into quicksand. i've been monitoring traffic from all over the state, there's been some concern in certain communities of the smell of gas. propane companies are saying that several propane tanks were washed away in the flooding. they're trying to recover those as of now. earlier today, too, the governor spoke with cnn. he said "vermont is not used to getting hit by tropical storms and they could be digging out of this for a very long time."
