take it oozy on the roadways. we have -- easy on the roadways.e have a line of showers crossing baltimore and into dc. we will get a break from that but another line is working its way into the area through. the remainder of the morning and i say maybe noon or one things will improve by 2:00 this afternoon. as we look further to the north, that's where you have to go to get icy and snowy conditions and back into ohio western ohio they are dealing with snow across the area as well. but for today, we are dealing with the warmer temperatures and we are going to get the southerly flow in here. once that warm front moves through the area, we are really going to warm things up this morning. there's the warm front edging in some places and some maces seeing the 60s. we are waiting for the cold front to move through and that's when the temperatures will start to drop going throughout the day. so there's going to be a weird kind of day where you getting the real warm temperatures andthursday will fall going into the afternoon. future trend not picking up

we have some video from last year with the roadways. this is a storm in late january last year that just captured the region. too many people were out on the roadways because the federal government did not make a call early enough and that was a huge problem. we had folks -- i remember i spoke to one gentleman who spent about 12 hours and slept on the gw parkway. federal workers are being asked to stay off the roads until 9:00 a.m. with federal government offices opening at 11:00 a.m. that gives the crews plenty of time to deal with anything they may need to deal with. metro has decided to extend rush hour service. they will extend the rush hour service through the 9:00 a.m. hour to accommodate all federal workers reporting to work late this morning. that is the story on the icy roads and how your commute may be, a little lighter perhaps if you are heading in early because the federal workers are heading in late. back to you. >> thank you. >>> a sad morning for the penn state community as they continue to mourn joe pat were owe's death.
