. >>> hello, i'm andrea roane. as you may know, j.c. hayward was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, it is personal and private but j.c. is sharing her journey with her family of viewers. today we are back together again on this buddy check 9 day. we are buddies and you want to be buddies to other women out there who may be going down the same road with you. you told us about the diagnosis on friday. today was your meeting with your breast surgeon. tell us about that. >> reporter: as you know, andrea, breast cancer has four stages, and mine is either stage i or i i, also she told me it was estrogen positive. i can take certain drugs to fight the cancer, easier than if it wasn't. it would be more difficult. she also told me she did not think that this is dr. magnum from the sullivan breast center, she also told me she did not believe that i would have to have chemotherapy. so that is good. but probably radiation four to six weeks, only one minute a day. so i won't miss a newscast so that is good news. >> your viewers are thrilled abou

roane. >>> after you're diagnosed with breast cancer, there are a lot of decisions that must be made regarding how to attack your specific cancer. yesterday jc met with her plastic surgeon and breast surgeon. he received news about the second lesion that was found. here's her reaction. >> benign, oh, great. oh, my gosh. oh. the second one was benign so it wasn't cancerous. >> we're here live on the set. the second lesion, that was the one found in the m.r.i. we have been waiting for the pathology report. you got the good news from your surgeon. >> i have been doing the happy dance all night long because that was good news. actually after i received that news, it made me change how i wanted to attack this cancer and what type of treatment i wanted to do. so i made a decision. i talked to my breast surgeon dr. magnum last night. she says i'm a perfect candidate for a lump picture my -- for a lumpectomy. i'm going to have it tomorrow at sidly hospital. i'm going to tell you that prayer works. prayer works. when i got that news that the second tissue was no malignant and not cancer, i sa

. >>> i'm andrea roane. since april 6, 9news now has been following our colleague and friend jc hayward as she battles a diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. we followed jc to meetings with her breast surgeon, an m.r.i. that found the second suspect mass that was benign to the plastic surgeon's office and finally to the operating room. once determined to have a double mass sect my now armed with facts about her type of cancer, jc would choose to have a breast conserving lumpectomy. the surgery took less than 90 minutes. after being in recovery for a while, jc was discharged that same evening. here she is looking great. you started the newscast just like it was any other day. no hints that you had been away on sick leave, even for a few days. how do you feel? >> i'm looking at your arm. i wish i had her arms and i could wear, you know, a dress without sleeves. look at those arms. my goodness. you look great. >> this is about you. >> okay. i am feeling g. i heard if my surgeon. she said the lu
