let's bring back in rob mayeda, this is an atmospheric river. it's a big concern this week. >> we've had two weeks of these unusually low rain levels. we had 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in two days. no problems with that. with the atmospheric river you're going to see stronger wind and the potential of heavier rain, and the two things we have to watch out for is how much moisture is this storm going to draw in, and how long is it going to hang over the bay area. you can see the source of that moisture will be coming up from south of hawaii, and right now, as we take a look at that micro climate forecast, it looks like this first wave will be moderate in strength, meaning it's going to come in thursday afternoon and last through about midday on friday. then as we move forward into the weekend, those rain estimates come down slightly as that connection kind of weakens a bit before the next storm starts to come in on sunday, and then the next window we're watching closely, potentially, would be monday through wednesday, as you have more moisture coming in

let's also bring in our meteorologist rob mayeda. vob here talking about kind of the impacts in lake tahoe but that also impacts us. rob, what are you seeing? i see what you're seeing right now. when does it start dumping there? because it's been going nonstop. >> this is going to be a different event. jeff was talking about it. the higher snow level. that brings a whole new set of problems when it comes to the snowpack that is already in place the last couple of weeks. you've had the lighter snowfall here which doesn't put a lot of weight on rooftops. about a foot of that snow is about a third of the weight of heavier wet snow. now watch what happens as that snow piles up. it's a difference of having two pickup trucks on your roof versus six. and once you get above 20 pounds per square foot that could lead to rooftop and ceiling failures, and we've been seeing a lot of this on social media today for places like truckee and the tahoe basin. a lot of folks taking this down time to clear some of those rooftops because on the way rain a
