rockaway beach just reopened to swimmers, and nbc's stephanie gosk is joining us from there.lly going back in the water? >> reporter: you know, ana, they have trickled onto the beach, but listen, this is a beautiful picture perfect beach day, and this beach is still pretty much empty. we've seen a few people go in the water. as you mentioned, they've been out patrolling all morning long, drones and boats and helicopters, and they said they were ready to close the beach to swimmers and surfers, again, if they saw any activity. they clearly didn't see any activity. there are people on this beach who are apprehensive, although this is the first shark attack here in rockaway in over 70 years, there have been shark attacks this summer not that far away, five off of long island over the fourth of july weekend. so some of the people here are a little bit nervous about going in. i ran into a couple from tucson who said they might walk in a little bit, but otherwise what they saw here on the beach that day really spooked them. here's what they had to say. >> what we saw unfold was the
