traffic is starting to back up in one direction up rockville pike. that's because there's a water main break at the top of rockville pike between cedar lane and pooks hill road. this water main break is a -- a 16-inch break. it happened yesterday afternoon about 1:00. crews have been working all day yesterday and overnight and also this morning trying to fix that repair. once they repair the break, they'll be putting the main back in the ground. i'm told at that point they'll actually have to shut down possibly even more lanes so that they can repair the road on top of it. there's also some buckling on rockville pike to tell you about, some things you need to worry about in that way. about 250 customers are without water. if you are one of those people without water, you could go to the wssc water station that's set up at boy that's at cedar lane and rockville pike. i spoke to a couple of people last night about how this commute is going to affect them, how this water main break is going to affect them last night and this morning. this is what they h

springfield at 70. 722 in fort washington. 75 in rockville. you can see in the valley, 68. culpeper and manassas were 39 degrees this morning. the temperatures get in the 50's but not the 30's we had seen. bigger picture and the showers off the coast. few showers to the north and the west. that is the next front to come through. it's different around here. into tomorrow and the morning at 7:00 or 8:00 time frame. the clouds rolling in. spotty sprinkle or two. i'm not anticipating much in the morning. there will be sunshine. don't be alarmed if you see sunshine in the forecast. this is a spotty rain situation. throughout the day, a little hit or the miss shower chance here or there. maybe in the drive home. better shot as the front pushing through. the cooler air will start to fill in behind it. we will feel it midweek. it will be reinforced as we head to the upcoming weekend. we have a welcome change. looking for the bus stop. through the day and hit or miss showers. at least we will warm up to 75 degrees tomorrow afternoon. average high is 69 or 70. so we are exceeding tha

the good news is whether you are traveling inbound or outbound on rockville pike. all of the lanes are now open. you should not have any problems. still, regular construction but nothing associated with the broken water main. in bethesda, megan mcgrath, news 4. a group from baltimore city occupied the building last night. they were protesting commissioner davis to the full skrob. they were arrested and chargeded with trespassing. davis' appointment was approved by a subcommittee meaning it will be back before the city council next week. >> we have got nice conditions out there right now, really quiet out there with plenty of sunshine. temperatures, low 60s. we started a little chilly this morning. with all that sunshine, we are going to warm right up into the mid to upper 60s. you are looking good if you want to head on out anything you want to do even after you get home from work or later on tonight. once that sun goes down, it is going to be on the chilly side. to are the next three days, what we are looking at, today, all sunshine, nothing to worry about there.

so head's up around laurel and rockville and gaithersburg. the rest of us getting in on this action over the next one to two hours and if you've been waiting for the heavy rain right on through 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 tonight and there's more where that came from, and this is the one wave that i'm watching and the next wave is with the front, back toward the west and that's what will be coming through later this evening and let's time it out for you on future weather and same thing around 6:30 as we move on through the night and a little bit of a break. once again, we will see some breaks and then here comes the line that we're going to be watching and right along i-95 around the midnight hour could see a little bit in the way of thunder and lightning and the biggest issue will be the very heavy rain and the potential with winds with that and that all moves through and over toward the chesapeake bay and by early tomorrow morning we're clearing out. tomorrow, a very nice day and a little bit on the breezy side, but it is going to be a pretty nice day

it's on rockville pike in bethesda. brianne carter is live tonight. how is traffic moving now? brianne: get a look on the roads. look behind me. we have traffic in one direction. for those of bethesda, we have major backup happening this hour. we are just getting in the thick of things for rush hour. the crews are working all afternoon past the intersection of creed dar lane. crews repaired the broken pike this afternoon. the water has been restored to all of those customers. if you are one of those that is impacted by the water outage the officials say it's normal to experience discolor waterfall in break. run water through the taps to allow the water and slush out of there as well. the backups are starting to build. we just talked to the officials in the last 45 minutes or an hour or so. they do tell us in fact that if something happens here the goal is to have all of this repaired and wrapped up by rush hour tomorrow morning. they have one section repaired and another in the southbound lane where they are trying to get the old concrete and the back up back up. we will work o
