traffic is starting to back up in one direction up rockville pike. that's because there's a water main break at the top of rockville pike between cedar lane and pooks hill road. this water main break is a -- a 16-inch break. it happened yesterday afternoon about 1:00. crews have been working all day yesterday and overnight and also this morning trying to fix that repair. once they repair the break, they'll be putting the main back in the ground. i'm told at that point they'll actually have to shut down possibly even more lanes so that they can repair the road on top of it. there's also some buckling on rockville pike to tell you about, some things you need to worry about in that way. about 250 customers are without water. if you are one of those people without water, you could go to the wssc water station that's set up at boy that's at cedar lane and rockville pike. i spoke to a couple of people last night about how this commute is going to affect them, how this water main break is going to affect them last night and this morning. this is what they h

rockville pike and cedar lane. as you can see southbound rockville pike, one lane of it has reopened as well as north bound rockville pike. there is a guy on a bike going through the water. we saw another man, he had his baby behind him trying to navigate his way through the water. the call came in at 1:04. a 16-inch broken main. crews are determining the exact location of the water main break. they are turning valves to do that. it is unclear at this point how many people are affected or what caused this. however, the spokesperson said the old pipes could be to blame. boy scouts of america is also located here. the employees there were able to leave early because of what is happening. they said their water has not been affected. no word on how long it will take to have this broken main repaired. the w.s.s.e. spokesperson said it could take four to six hours. however a worker told us he expects for the work to continue into tomorrow morning. reporting li

he is an investigator for rockville police department. ufie promised to cure her of bad spirits plaguing her life. >> convinced her enough that she was withdrawing the large sums of money under the assumption she would get the money back. >> reporter: the money added up to $77,000. when the victim didn't get her money back ufie took off. that's when she hired private investigator bob nygaard to assist police in tracking the woman down. >> i was able to pinpoint her to a location in queens and she was operating a psychic shop. >> reporter: on october 3rd, nygaard followed ufie into a 99 cent store in queens. he called 911 and was reporting when police walked in and made the arrest. she was transported and booked at the 108th precinct. police say she'll stay there until she's extradited back to rockville where she will face serious charges. police say that ufie will have her extradition hearing on october 14th. she's facing several charges including felony theft. now, coming up at 6:00, we talk to police about how wide spread this scam real

another man is on the loose in rockville.olice believe they were selling the stolen laundry pods on the market. >>> it's 6:35. happening today, brand-new homeless shelter is opening in arlington. it provides more than a meal and a bed but provide services year-round. the homeless rate has been cut in half in the last five years. this huge service center is expected to play a huge role in the county's plan to end homelessness by 2018. >>> some are not happy to have portions of i-66 turned into a toll road. drivers would be charged as much as seven bucks depending on how far they travel. house republicans say the tolls are too high. the commonwealth transportationboard will approve or reject that plan later this month. >>> some people now raising an eyebrow about a handshake used by nationals star bryce harper and the similarity to this last weekend's fight in the dugout. you see him doing the complicated handshake. you see his hands around his neck. that's what he was doing. harper was doing the handshake before the incident.

it's on rockville pike in bethesda. brianne carter is live tonight. how is traffic moving now? brianne: get a look on the roads. look behind me. we have traffic in one direction. for those of bethesda, we have major backup happening this hour. we are just getting in the thick of things for rush hour. the crews are working all afternoon past the intersection of creed dar lane. crews repaired the broken pike this afternoon. the water has been restored to all of those customers. if you are one of those that is impacted by the water outage the officials say it's normal to experience discolor waterfall in break. run water through the taps to allow the water and slush out of there as well. the backups are starting to build. we just talked to the officials in the last 45 minutes or an hour or so. they do tell us in fact that if something happens here the goal is to have all of this repaired and wrapped up by rush hour tomorrow morning. they have one section repaired and another in the southbound lane where they are trying to get the old concrete and the back up back up. we will work o
