[ speaking foreign language ] to talk to her daughter, madrid has been dialing a number officials gave her to week but has not gotten through. we tried it twice during our interview. it went to voicemail. [ speaking foreign language ] madrid says that when president trump signed the executive order wednesday, all the 40 women in her pod tried thinking they would be reunited. nothing changed. cnn's rosa flores is at the border in san diego, california. rosa, i just want to put back up some of those images, because the homeland security secretary said again this morning that these minors are being taken care of. these facilities, again, like the one we're seeing here, they have children taking care of hem that don't even know. they h change their diapers because nobody is around to do that. that is a very different picture that we're seeing and hearing from people who have witnessed that from what we heard from government officials this morning. >> reporter: yes, dana, and lawmakers using those images and those stories to try to push the trump administration to stop separating families. now, wii see've seen lawmakers to detention centers in texas and new jersey, and now we're going to see it here in southern california. we've learned that minority leader nancy pelosi and members of the congressional hispanic caucus will be going to various locations here in southern california, but they're being tight-lipped about the detention center

joining us is rosa flores. how is he doing? >> she's in depair. she's depressed. she's paralyzed with pain because she says that she misses her daughter. here is what she told me. anderson, she says her daughter has never been apart from her mother. they've never separated since birth. it's very tough for this woman. >> at the facility, melania trump toured today, the manager said his children are able to talk to the parents for ten minutes, twice a week. has she been able to talk to her daughter? >> you know that was one of the astounding things about this conversation with this woman because despite what the administration has said and cindy was describing how they were watching television when president trump signed that executive order and all of these women many this facility started cheering and crying and thinking that things were going to change. they would be able to talk to their children but that was not the case. take a listen. now cindy shared that phone number that immigration gave her with us. during our interview we tried that number twice. here's

rosa flores caught up with that girl's mother overnight. listen. >> she's begging for help. she doesn't know where her daughter is. this is like having a missing child. >> it's heartbreaking. it's extremely painful to listen to. you will hear case after case that is like this. again, i think that immigration is incredibly complicated issue. dealing with the system is a complicated issue. this administration dove into a policy in the last six to seven weeks that has created what we are seeing and they have no plan clearly for how to deal with it. it is not going away. they have created hundreds of children who are going to have trauma because of this. you can hear that little girl's cries, and it is heartbreakng. >> we have one more we want to share with you. a mother from guatemala who was separated from her daughter a month ago. she sued the administration. they were actually reunited overnight. let's just watch that. >> this is one of the lucky ones, because she has her sons. look at all the trauma out because they were separated and she didn't know if she would find her s

rosa flores tracked down the mother of one of the children whose cries you just heard. had a plea for the first lady. a trump administration administration official says 500 children are being reunited with their families and we are seeing some prove of that and it is powerful. that little boy in the blanket, his name darwin. he is 7 and he and his mom are from guatemala. and with me now are two people who were right there when darwin finally saw his mother again. mario williams is the attorney who represents darwin's mother. and also with us the ceo of the company who bailed her out. so gentlemen, welcome to both of you you. what a win for this family and for you. mario, i want to start with you as she was your client and tell me about what it took for this emotional reunion to happen, to have this mother finally embrace her child. >> it was a long journey, brooke. we started off, we filed a lawsuit early 5:00 a.m. tuesday morning. at that point the mother had not even known where her child was. although she marie peted pleas try to find out. no one would tell her. we

cnn's correspondent rosa flores is there, joining me now. what are you learning? >> reporter: you know, kate, we're learning that the center that you see behind me will be the one that will be used to reunite families. so as you were saying, this practice that the administration has said that did not lead to the separation of families, well now the administration is setting up a processing center where they can reunite those families. and here's what we have learned about this processing center. this is as close as we can get. we will not have access to this facility. we asked yesterday to see if we could get closer to bring you pictures and we were not successful. we do have, however, aerial footage, take a look at that. we can see this is a massive facility, surrounded by barbed wire. this is in the middle of nowhere. what i see around me are mesquite, brush, sorghum fields, that's pretty much it, other than an airport that is nearby which might be used perhaps to bring the children in to then reunite them with some of the families that are inside. i have talked

. >> our correspondent rosa flores is joining us now from mcallen, texas. rose, i understand you had a chance to speak with the girl's mother. what's she saying about the efforts to reconnect her with her daughter? >> reporter: you know, cindy madrid said they told her to be patient, that there was a process for her to be reunited with her daughter, but there were no details about that process. she made it to the border on may 25th. she said that pro publica audio was recorded on the day she arrived, because that's when she was separated from her daughter. ever since she's tried, asking officials to be if she can reunify, to see if she could call her daughter. about a week later they gave her a phone number that they said she could use to connect with her. she has called multiple times. she last lost the number of times she has dialed. when we were interviewing her, we tried dialing that number and it went to a voice message. while we were interviewing her as well, that's when the news broke that first lady melania trump was here in texas at a separate faci
