she went rosalynn carter you've had 33 years post president to y the longest in history. you and president carter been very active. what you think your legacy as first lady? would you like it to be? >> i hope this continued more than just first lady. as for an integral part of our lives. lyme disease and buildingi hope. with mental health issues. i'd improved a little bit i have had great opportunities for so long there. and to go through and we have programs in seven different countries. we go to africa two or three times ago year. to go to the villages and now things are going to fruition for perwe've almost eradicated guina worm. to go to a village where there is no longer guinea worm is a celebration. one of the good thing about the carter's is we don't give money to the government. we send a people in to teach, to help people in that country how to do something. we work with the people in the villages. we work with the health department. they do the work of her to go to a village and explained to him about guinea were he got the chief to approve that's what you have t

the media couldn't believe rosalynn carter. they couldn't believe this petite woman, very pretty, very soft spoken, they can't believe that she was so smart, that she was so tough, and she was aggressive. she had to be aggressive in the first place because of miss lillian. because she had to stand up to jimmy's mother because she's very powerful and jimmy, of course, helped her do that. but she stood up to jimmy, too. and she didn't really care if the tv cameras were going if she wanted to disagree with him. so she was a very strong person. very important in the campaign. she had her own issues, mental health, but then other things as well and carter also told the press and others that she was an equal partner. i don't think many people believed it, but once i got into the research, i discovered very quickly that she really was an equal partner and once the presidency was over and they established the carter center, they made it their co-chairs of the carter center. he's the chairman and she co-chairs. they have equal status in
