meteorologist rosemary orosco will tell us how hot it is going to get. >>> people evacuated in the path of a fire in southern california have been allowed to return home. >>> it started in the angeles national forest 3:30 yesterday afternoon. that order was lifted as the winds died down, 500 firefighters are working to contain the fire which has burned 1500 acres. >>> an early morning fire caused more than a million dollars damage to a restaurant in san francisco's inner mission district. the fire started at 1:30 this morning at shea spencer on 14th street. see the flames burning inside as crews worked to put it out. the fire spread to two nearby buildings, including an apartment. >> there are people involved, people living in the exposure and we got them out. the fire was probably contained in approximately 30 minutes. >> nobody was hurt. the cause of the fire is under investigation. and the french restaurant does feature a wood burning oven. >>> ahead what police and federal agents were doing in an oakland neighborhood early this morning. >>> details on how warm it will get in your ne

rosemary will have it for you. >>> and how this sinkhole is linked to an old problem. >>> crews are out this noontime working to repair a large sinkhole in the middle of a busy san francisco intersection. it opened up on the richmond district on second and lake street about 5:00 last night. traffic is still being diverted around the intersection. as you can see, the hole is big enough to swallow up a car. fortunately no one was hurt and no cars were damaged. officials have not caused -- have not determined what caused a sinkhole but say it's near an old sewer line which may have collapsed. >> it happened near the 100- year-old brick systems. we have an old system and this is what happens when the system fails. >> the hole is expected to affect traffic for a few days. officials say the repairs will take about three days to complete. >>> san jose police caught up with an armed robbery suspect after a high-speed chase. ktvu's janine de la vega joins us live from the police department with details about how one officer figured out where to looking for the suspect and what -- where to lookin

i want to turn to rosemary orozco who's watching the warm up. feel like it goes hot, cold, hard to keep up with it all. >> sure, it's going to be a tug of war as we get through spring and summer. it's going to be cool at the coast, notably warmer inland today, and i'm beginning to see the burn off we are expecting. a live look at san jose, turning partly cloudy at this hour. in some areas, it almost looks worse than where it has been the last couple of days. i'll explain why in a moment. onto the satellite radar, we have a ridge of high pressure over california. that's going to keep the storm are track to the north. may see high clouds drift over us as we move through saturday. you may look up at times and notice that we have a soft sunlight than we've got one that's crystal clear. in any case, it's going to be a warmer day. that ridge of high pressure and the warm air associated with it is sinking and as it does, it begins to compress the marine layer and pushes it closer to the ground. i don't know how long you have been joining us but we have
