. >>> now, ktvu meteorologist rosemary orozco here to tell us about the conditions firefighters can expect to face today and also the air quality in the areas. it looks pretty bad. >> yes, the poor air quality will continue. it will be another warm one. the winds are not too bad but the relative humidity is up. 82 degrees coming from one observation and the other reporting station reporting 83 with a light breeze and relative humidity 25%. this could help slow the fire a bit. but it could also make it more uncomfortable for firefighters. i want to show you the satellite radar. this is where the moisture is being drawn from. you can see the circulation around that ridge of high pressure pulling in monsoonal moisture as well as remnants of tropical storm eva. as i move in a little bit closer, you can see rain falling over arizona but nothing over the sierra in california just yet but for the afternoon, the possibility of that isolated thunderstorms will move into the area picking it up for you at this hour. you can see light blues and greens. we welcome the rain on the other hand, any lightn

steve is off today but we have rosemary orozco. how is it looking? >> today will be warmer. in fact, let's take a look at the comparison. yesterday, santa rosa, you are going to 91. mid-80s in concord yesterday. 92 for today. oakland, you are following suit. a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday and san jose, 85 for the second half of the afternoon. so temperatures around the bay, 3 to 6 degrees warmer than what we had on thursday. inland, 5 to 7 degrees. that's a notal jump in temperatures for the second half of your day. this morning we are waking up with low clouds inside the bay, along the coastline. half moon bay bay is reporting visibility anywhere from one to two miles. napa down to a quarter mile with the visibility. it's very patchy in nature which makes it hazardous as you get out the door. be aware of it. as you get inland, we're machine, concord, livermore -- mostly sunny, concord, livermore, mostly sunny skies. that will help lead to a big warmup. the breeze is onshore but very week. so we can't rely on the delta breeze to help cool off those areas for the s

. >> meteorologist rosemary orozco is updating our weekend weather. >> and how new unemployment numbers did not disappointment. >>> the federal government reports that the nation's unemployment rate fell in july on modest job growth. it's not all good news, thousands of people have essentially giving up looking for work. >> the labor department says more americans are finding work as employers added 162,000 jobs last month. that was enough to lower the overall unemployment rate from 7.6% to 7.4%. the lowest in 4-1/2 years. >> i think what we see is a continuation of pattern of the economy's moving in the right direction. >> reporter: there are down sides. the jobs gained in july were the fewest since march and were mostly in low paying industries like retail and restaurants. the numbers were also revised downward. >> in a really robust recovery you would see income growing, employment growing, people joining the labor force. what we get instead are good news-bad news reports month after month. >> reporter: wall street reacted to the mixed messages as stocks opened slightly lower. wall s

let's go to rosemary orozco and tell us when are things going to get back to normal. >> it's going tole of days, we remain trapped in this pattern that gasia mentioned. it's been cool and cloudy for several days. well below average. giving you a look here at the low clouds. the marine layer has grown to about 2,500 feet in some cases. so easy for it to roll right over the coastal range in between the passes and gaps and we're going to see it as we move through tonight and into tomorrow as well. now this system that's bringing us the unseasonably cool weather also providing enough lift to bring us mid-level clouds. we're seeing that over northern sections of the bay at this hour. so if you looked up earlier today and thought, that cloud looks different than what this typical low cloud that we typically see through the morning hours and through the afternoon. you can see the low clouds stretching into san francisco, you have to be on the eastern edge to still have the mostly sunny skies. i'm seeing a patch over berkeley as well. and perhaps parts of alameda. as i scoot back a little bit

let's check in with rosemary orozco who is in for steve today. >>> good morning, to you. tgif. we're looking a the a nice forecast for today. it will be a warmer day. ridge of high pressure moving closer. strengthening just a bit. the warm sinking air associated with that ridge is really beginning to pin that marine layer close foreground. patchy dense fog reported along parts of the coastline. marine layer very shallow at this point. below 1,000 feet. we're not going to see much of a cool off for the afternoon. perhaps just a very weak sea breeze. the farther you live inland the warmer it will be as you get out the door a little bit of patchy fog to deal with. temperatures in the mid 50s to 60s. we are partly cloudy to mostly clear for our inland communities but we do have fog and low clouds around the bay. partly to mostly sunny skies. low 60s along the coast. upper 60s around the bay. mid 70s inland. it will be mild to warm for your lunch hour. 65 at the coastline with partly to mostly cloudy skies. mid 70s around the bay. low 80s expected inland for the second of your day m
