our congressional correspondent ryan nobles is working the story for us. st. what does it signal? >> reporter: what it signals, wolf, is this is going to be a comprehensive investigation as they try and determine what led to the insurrection here in the beginning of 2021 and how to prevent it from happening in the future. you're right. they're asking for documents, communications records from seven different federal agencies and the national archives. this is a long list of agencies, like the department of interior, the fbi, department of justice and others asking for communications records, anything having to do with the insurrection itself and also anything having to do with the trump administration or the former president's campaign attempts to overturn the 2020 election. that means some very specific names have been on these lists of document requests, people high in the white house like pat cipollone and former chief of staff mark meadows. also included in this information request dump are several members of the trump family including his children and

cnn's ryan nobles joins us now.his is a big win for the biden administration. >> it certainly is, jake. also a win for the democratic leaders here in the house and senate. both chuck schumer and nancy pelosi have been insistent on this dual track for both the bipartisan infrastructure plan and the budget reconciliation piece. about 24 hours ago it looked like that plan was in serious trouble as that group of ten moderate democrats said that they were not going to vote for the budget resolution until they got a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure package. but speaker pelosi, as she often does, found a legislative way forward meeting with these moderate democrats until the early -- into the late-night hours last night and hashing out this deal. basically what she agreed to was a promise that the house will vote on that bipartisan infrastructure deal by september 27th. that gives the house of representatives time now to craft that big $3.5 trillion budget plan. right now all they have approved is that top-line number

. >> congressional correspondent ryan nobles joins us now. ryan, they have started voting.ening now into context. >> that's right, victor and alisyn. this is a series of two votes that the house is taking up right now. we expect them to be along party lines. as it stands right now, the house speaker, nancy pelosi, beliefs that she has the votes to get this stage of the reconciliation package, that $3.5 trillion human infrastructure package on to the next phase of negotiations. and they're going to vote it all into one big package. they basically combined the rule on this legislation, along with its final package, which means that that will be enough to satisfy this stage of the reconciliation process. now, all this means is that the house has agreed to the top-line number of the budget, that $3.5 trillion. they will now negotiate over the next month into what's going into that package before it gets to the stage of being voted on and finalized. this is directly connected to that bipartisan infrastructure deal that's already been passed in the senate. house progressives and

ryan nobles has more. >> reporter: this was a big step in the process, but there is still a long waysional leaders as they attempt to push through these two big spending packages, one, that $3.5 trillion human infrastructure plan, and then of course the $1.2 trillion hard infrastructure package. it was the $3.5 trillion budget resolution that finally got passed on tuesday. this after some hand wringing between the moderate wing of the democratic party and the progressive wing. and really most of the think are a arang and final democrats. nancy pelosi has been moving it along on a dual track saying in order to get one, you have to get the other. but some of the moderates tried to press her to just pass that bipartisan infrastructure plan without worrying about the electri reconciliation piece. and they said that they wouldn't vote on the reconciliation without the infrastructure plan. but this is where they settled, the speaker nancy pelosi agreed that she will bring that package up for a vote, the bipartisan package up for a vote, by no later than september 27. as a result, those ten
