abc's ryan owens is there. >> the wildfire ranging inside one of the country's national treasures hasow scorching more than 2,500 acres. and moving closer to popular campgrounds. a plume of smoke blankets yosemite's iconic half dome. >> the entire park is dry. fire danger is very high. the fire crews will experience steep terrain. >> reporter: the terrain is rugged. firefighters have to battle the blaze almost entirely by air. which is how they have to rescue people, too. 85 hikers were trying to reach the summit of half dome when the fire broke out, way too close. >> raging and -- and, right at the fire, the fire to the mountain. the wind is capturing it. the flames were high. it was pretty scary. >> reporter: after a quick helicopter ride all of the hikers are now safely reunited with loved ones. after a hike that showed them nature's beauty and her fury. the smoke you see behind me has settled around half dome. it's not billowing like it was before, and that's good news in large part because rain fell on this fire. a real reason for optimism here. ryan owens, abc news, yosemite. >>

abc's ryan owens tonight. >> reporter: why did accused killer arron lewis target his alleged victim, arkansas real estate agent beverly carter? his answer, astounding. >> because she was just a woman that worked alone, a rich broker. >> reporter: the 33-year-old with a lengthy rap sheet has pleaded not guilty to capital murder. he denies killing the mother and grandmother, but detectives say lewis does admit to kidnapping her last week from this home she was showing near little rock. authorities say he posed as a buyer. >> we believe the person responsible for taking her and, as we know now, for her murder, is in custody. >> reporter: her murder, allegedly at the hands of a complete stranger, has shaken this city's realtors. many spent four days searching for carter before her body was mound a shallow grave overnight. >> nothing that beverly did that any of us have not done in the past. >> reporter: but not anymore. carter's boss at the real estate office says no more meeting strangers at some empty home. >> i'm hoping that the public is going to be more patient with us and realize t

ryan owens has the story. >> reporter: they have been used to shoot breathtaking video like this, tot terrorists overseas, and now helping the search for a missing woman here in north texas. this drone is scouring for the 23 ye 23-year-old. last seen on this surveillance tape, walking with a friend at a mall north of dallas at 4:00 in the morning. are you hopeful they will find something? >> hopeful they will find clues. >> reporter: the search crews have walked the woods near the mall and found nothing. and with police struggling to come up with leads, the faa granted an emergency waiver, allowing drones to fly here for the next three days. they are called superbats, and have a camera that can snap up to 200 images every ten minutes. flights cost one tenth of a helicopter, covering similar ground. >> we are not out to violate privacy. the images are erased. we are not looking for them, we are looking for miss morris. >> reporter: this morning, they are looking at a 20-mile grid, looking for anything out of place. her mom has her own theory. you think someone has her? >> absolutely.

ryan owens has the story. >> i've been progressively discoordinated. >> reporter: you're watching celleo of dr. george blumenschein in a hospital waiting room as the poison in his body starts to take its toll. just offscreen, the woman on trial accused of poisoning him, dr. anna gonzalez. the video was shot in january of 2013 by his girlfriend of more than a decade, yvette tony. >> i actually thought he's dying in front of me. >> reporter: tony spent much of tuesday on the stand, testifying about how she found out her p f boyfriend was having an affair with dr. gonzalez. >> i felt stupid. it was three weeks, i felt like an idiot. >> reporter: prosecutors say she spike the coffee with a sweet-tasting poison found in anti-freeze and claimed it was splenda, all because he chose to stay with his girlfriend and not her. >> she had a special colombian coffee. >> reporter: he has permanent kidney damage, and dr. gonzalez is charged with aggravated assault. she's pleaded not guilty. but if convicted, the world-renowned cancer doc may spend the rest of her life in prison. >> are you still with
