a man suspected of shoplifting at safeway - now wanted for murder .. for new security efforts.. there are calls for increased security at safeway stores in san francisco's richmond district after an employee was allegedly stabbed in the back by a shoplifter. police say 34 year old michael pardo also threatened rushed to help their injured co worker. the incident took place here at the 7th avenue store just after midnight monday. the richmond district supervisor says that's not the only violence to take place at this store. she says the husband of an employee was beaten up a few weeks prior while trying to help stop a shoplifter. the supervisor says she is meeting with safeway corporate in the coming days and wants the grocery chain to pay off duty san franicsco police officers overtime to guard safeway stores in her district. sandra lee fewer says she's also working with the richmond district police captain to address neighborhood safety in the areas around the stores.

a safeway truck is filled with food there. truck out of their works>> yes. the plan is to have another safeway truck come onto the freeway and offload the 30 six thousand pounds of products still inside that is the wrecked truck. then they will be able to tow the truck that you see that crashed off the freeway. in the meantime, they are waiting to see when this other truck will arrive. you can see the tow truck on the left has a stabilizer over the. the impact of the crash disabled the rear axle. the only thing keeping back cab from tipping is that stabilizer that you see. this crash happened just after five a.m. it was a single vehicle. the safeway truck is really vehicle involved. the driver was not injured. he had some barrels. he lost control. you can see, it has pulverized those barrels. there is plastic all up and down the freeway. the truck hit the guard rail and barrels and then skid before coming to a stop. that impact rock dust ruptured the gas tank on the truck. that you'll spilled. they were trying to contain the f

this happened just before one at the safeway on 7th eve. witnesses say that the 39-year- old leo soto was taken to the hospital. a safeway worker said they are concerned because several employees have been fired for trying to stop shoplifters. which is against cop policy. they said the assault is under investigation and their main concern is for the injured employee. >>> police shot and killed a man they say shot and stabbed a woman and killed a police dog. investigators say there was some sort of dispute and the suspect stabbed a woman. police sent in a k the but the suspect stabbed and killed the dog. officers opened fire. the suspect was hit and he later died at the hospital. the woman stabbed is in the hospital with nonlife threatening joiners. >>> a man accused of manslaughter in the shooting of a richmond police officer will be in court. the sentencing phase of robert vega will be held in contra costa. vega is accused of shotting a police officer in his home of february of 2016. vega was once in a relationship with the officer's daugh

at the safeway on 7th avenue near golden gate park. say leo soto was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. >> it's been a recording problem for the last several months. the woman assistant was knocked out by two attempted shoplifters and a store manager was also assaulted. >> that safeway employee told ktvu that they are concerned that several employees have been fired in the past for trying to stop shoplifters which is against company policy. the assault is being investigated. the main concern is for the injured employee. >>> the time is 6:57. the santa cruz county man who is accused of starting the bear fire was in court yesterday and reportedly threatened the district attorney. the sentinel reports that the suspect, marlin coy told the prosecutor you're next after the felony charges were read in court. the district attorney responded, bring it on. the fires burned 400 acres, destroyed six buildings, including two homes. coy started the fire in front of two other men during an argument. he pled not guilty to the charg

( james ) the city of san francisco is getting ready for the rain that is heading our way. the public utilities commission is spreading the word about its new flood resilience strategy. it is called "rain ready s-f". officials are currently cleaning out storm drains throughout the city ... providing sandbags and setting up barriers. it's all in hopes of stopping flooding in areas which get hit hard. ( james ) and nearly a dozen agencies in sonoma county are working to reduce the risk of flooding and water pollution after the wildfires. there are 617 streams which are filtered for drinking water in the areas affected by the fires. officials say ... it is important that ash, debris, and other contaminants do not get in that water. and as rain approaches the bay area ... there is an effort to prevent flooding.
