time to check back in with sal. how's the commute, sal? any problems? >>> there are some problems are that the roads are wet and you might see some slow downs, people driving little more slowly as you should during wet weather. kind of unusual in july but you will see some heavy mist and fog especially in the west bay but also stretching parts of the east bay as we look at a live look at the east shore freeway aheading out to the macarthur maze and to the bay bridge toll plaza where it is light they have picked up the road work on the lower deck of the bay bridge. a lot of the road work has now been picked up. so the lanes are open and traffic is light. if you are driving in to san jose north and southbound 280 that traffic looks nice getting up to highway 17. at 5:08 let's go to steve. >>> thank you, sal. well, low clouds, fog, drizzle. robbie tweeted me from morgan hill where they're getting drizzle. it's happening. so that tells us it's going to be not only cool coast and bay but areas that should be about 90 plus degrees will be in the mid-70s. also

you, sal. we have coastal fog moving inland. not as much drizzle today. yesterday was rain. light rain, measurable amounts, .03, .04 and even .05 higher elevations. plenty of coastal fog as it begins its move inland and already starting to surge inland. it will not be as strong as yesterday or the coverage i should say but there's still plenty to go around. system's being enhanced by that big old low up into oregon. and it just keeps ramping up the fog and low clouds. 52 to 57. 57 oakland also san jose. a lot of mid-50s here. redwood city, san francisco, livermore, concord, fairfield. cooler towards the north bay. santa rosa 50. napa 52. san rafael at 53. still component of a west or southwest wind or a delta breeze. and even west 22 stronger gusts at sfo. so i mean everything's there again to keep us below average on the temps. there are some areas of low clouds but i think it will burn off sooner today. however as long as this low sits there and then another one reinforcing it on the backside

. >>> all right, sal. right now crews are working to get the water back onto dozens of people in lafayette right now. the problem started last night about 10:30. a water main broke at the intersection of mt. diablo boulevard and village center. ktvu's tara moriarty just talked to east bay mud. she's back now. what did they say? >> reporter: well, they say they haven't pinpointed the break exactly just yet but they do believe it's underneath the sidewalk. if you take a look behind me you can see where the guy is jackhammering a chunk of the sidewalk out so they can get to it. east bay mud has been here for the past four hours or so. they say the water pressure actually blew most of the dirt out where you see the ladder in the hole over there. now crews tell us this is an 8- inch cast iron pipe that ruptured. they will remove that section of damaged line and replace it so they can turn the water back on. there's about 100 people in this area around mt. diablo boulevard and village center drive without water

. >>> thank you, sal. topping our news this morning family and friends are holding out hope that seven fishermen will be found alive. most of the missing are from the bay area. today the mexican navy and u.s. coast guard will continue to search. tara moriarty joins us from the newsroom to talk about what investigators are cig this morning. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning, pam. we are learning more about the man confirmed dead in this boating tragedy. the coast guard says the fisherman's chances of survival are good given that the water temperature is warm but hope is fading. passengers that made it out tonight are not sure if people from the upper decks were able to grab life jackets. 35 crew members and passengers survived by swimming 16 hours to shore or being rescued by mexican fishermen or navy boats. u.s. coast guard left yesterday searching for the tourists. the boat capsized before dawn on sunday when it was hit by a sudden storm. one man as we mentioned has been found dead. we recentl

let's go back to the desk. >>> sal, thank you. an investigation continues into a deadly police shooting at a san francisco bart station. ktvu tara moriarty now getting new information about what happened last night. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. police are now reviewing surveillance video hoping it will provide clues to what happened. we are here at the civic center station. below us is where they shot and killed a man last night. around 9:45 an ambulance rushed the suspect to a hospital. the initial 911 call came in at 9:30. police say the suspect was on the civic center station platform appearing intoxicated. two bart officers arrived at 9:45 and within one minute three shots were fired. at least two bullets striking the suspect. now initial reports indicate the suspect may have thrown a bottle at officers. one officer did suffer cuts to his arm. >> there is evidence at the scene. broken glass on the platform area. two open knives. that will be further investigated. at this point in time we have two credible wit

let's check back in with sal for a look at traffic. >>> good morning. traffic is going to be busy around the bay area but there is one major trouble spot and that would be in daly city northbound 280 coming up to the 19th avenue exit. people are being diverted from taking that exit ramp. and 280 northbound is basically not accessible to 19th avenue if you're trying to get out to san francisco state or that part of san francisco, any part of 19th avenue, you're going to either have to exit at west lake and go around or just go down to geneva and make a left onto ocean and do that. you can't get off at 19th avenue because of a very serious injury accident. let's move along and take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. that traffic is busy as you come up to the toll plaza area. and this morning's commute in san jose along northbound 280 looks very nice in downtown san jose. it looks like it's a little bit drier there than it is around the bay area. 4:41. let's go to steve. >>> sal, thank you, sir. we have extensive fog bank. very unseasonably strong system
