earlier this morning we got really torrential rains here in san francisco, and we're told by the san francisco department of water that the runoff actually dug up some of the sediment that they had put in from a recently repaired fire hydrant line, a high pressure fire hydrant line. the runoff basically dug out a lot of the temporary sediment that they had put in there, and that's what caused a pothole that actually kind of snarled up traffic at gaugh and lombard for a good part of the morning, the water crews were able to get in there pretty quickly. they were able to fill in the hole that had been dug up by the runoff and temporarily kind of fill it. they put a big metal plate over it, and they tell us that they are going to permanently repair that intersection with asphalt as soon as this storm passes, so it's probably going to be there for a little while at least. but we did notice that there w some issues with with vehicles as we were there, as some of the cars were trying to kind of get through that kind of squeezed intersection. janelle. okay. sergio quintana, there are going

this is the san francisquito creek. and you may remember, in 2003, this creek spilled over its banks and caused major flooding in parts of east palo alto. you can see now it's moving very swiftly. there's also a lot of debris in here, which is why tonight, residents in this area are on high alert. across the peninsula. heavy rains made it much more difficult to get around today, as people dusted off their umbrellas and dashed into stores. here in san carlos, crews worked to make repairs after the storm knocked out power to this traffic signal. we do expect this storm to bring a decent amount of outage activity at this emergency cter in san carlos. pg&e has an entire fleet of trucks waiting to respond to more outages. the company is also beefing up staffing and turning to technology to determin where power may go out next. we do have a storm outage prediction model, which is a fairly sophisticated tool that uses ai and machine learning. that gives us a really good prediction of how many outages will we'll be seeing, wher

let's take a look at a live picture from our san jose camera, where you can see san jose. 101 raindropsn the lens. people are moving slower, obviously. you take a look at live doppler seven and you can see that there is wet weather across the south bay from the santa cruz mountains, heading towards morgan hill. coyote. you can see here right around evergreen san jose. you're getting steady but scattered showers as we head towards the river road. guerneville windsor area. we're also seeing some rain. there is an urban and small stream flood advisory for sonoma county until midnight tonight. they've already seen some minor flooding and that urban flooding will continue. we're talking about streams, creeks, and of course, roadways. castro valley, hayward 8-80 dublin 580. it is going to be a tough ride as the roads are slippery. this is a level two storm, much of california getting either rain or snow. and as we go, hour by hour, scattered showers will continue going into the evening hours, even into the late night hours. as we take a look at the north bay flood watch is going until 1 p.m.
