it goes over the san bruno canal. they're doing this because they're worried the bridge will collapse. this is a safety issue. they found wooden and concrete columns supporting the road had deteriorated to the point of just being unsafe. so they made this decision to shut it down. they're going to try to shore it up. this road will be closed and detours will be in place starting today. so be aware that this is happening. an announcement on a bus over the weekend said these delays will be in place at least all week. we are working to get more concrete information for you on how long this will take. we hear a spokesperson will be headed our way soon to give us a briefing. we're still working this story for you. we want to give you the heads up this is happening. they do have plans to build a replacement bridge, but that's not going to be open until the end of the year. reporting live from san bruno, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> we have dramatic new video that shows the terrifying minutes when santa rosa police rushed

here's a live look from san francisco from san bruno mountains. s a little foggy out there yet. 6:26 and 53 degrees in san jose. this sunday, may 27th, 2018. good morning, thank you for waking up with us. i'm vicky nguyen along with vianey arana with a look at the holiday weekend forecast. things are looking pretty good. >>> they are looking really good. we have some spots looking hazy, but that's going to clear out and burn off a lot faster than yesterday in the spots seeing cloud cover. and temperatures are in the 50s. but we are expected to warm up into the 60s. we have 53 degrees in san jose. and if i take a quick check of the coastal fog, you can see we are seeing some areas with some low-lying clouds along the coast. but all in all, the temperatures are running a couple degrees warmer in most spots. 10 degrees or slightly cooler. but we have a significant increase of temperatures into the afternoon. this will set us up for a warming trend just in time for memorial day monday. so i will definitely break down exactly what to expect for tomorrow

as a partnership with davis city, san bruno and calwater that provides additional local water storage equal to the crystal springs reservoir. the way we are doing that is by delivering excess surface water in wet years to the folks who use groundwater down the peninsula and then basically have stopped using the groundwater as much. and that is allowing the groundwater basin to rise and accumulate more. there is a lot of vacant space there that can be used for storage. the whole project is designed and still has space in wet years so that we can draw it down and dry years to the normal level. and so really that reliability will be getting out of that. >> how do you fill that space? >> basically you fill the space by stopping taking water out of it. water naturally will flow into underground aquifers and we have measured that in this lower part of the aquifer. the san francisco part of the aquifer stays high and is pushing up to the ocean. this part of the aquifer has been pumped by the cities as well as the cemeteries and golf courses down there, so it's been lower over time so you get
