for more we check in with meteorologist rob mayeda in for christina. >> we're seeing the thick fog not so much around sanse where it's 44 degrees for you. traveling across the san mateo bridge, the bay bridge, the carquinez straits you have the fog. adviseibilities at times less than a mile. livermore there less than a half mile, too, but the visibility in the south bay not too bad. it took some time yesterday for the low clouds to break up and looks like we could see something similar as we go through the day. for the morning the areas of low clouds probably at their thickest around the north bay and east bay valleys and gradually clearing skies as we get through the afternoon there, mostly clear as we head towards the afternoon and evening. if you're going to be around the coast and bay, watch out for another astronomical high tide, this is coming up just before 10:00 this morning. the king tides about seven foot high tide at ocean beach just before 10:00 this morning, look out for some unusual rip currents and again the potential theror some roadway flooding along the coast and inner bay. temperatures

that is the skyline from downtown san jose right now and looking pretty clear as christina has been talkingabout. >> that's right. we're going to expect some nice temperatures today. >> it's going to be really, really nice out there. motivates you to get outdoors, maybe you haven't given up that new year's resolution just yet. many of us have. 6:19 now. hey, maybe you want to head up to tahoe. we're talking about how warm our beaches are going to be. let's talk about what's going on up there, because squaw valley, alpine meadows, world class resorts, we still have some really good skiing happening. you got to head up to the upper mountain if you want the base, 34 inches so just under three feet but temperatures overnight still cold enough for the snow making to continuously take place and that technology has come a long way so if you want to get up there this weekend, you have that option or you can also hit the beach. you got to love california. 39 degrees in the south bay right now, 43 on the peninsula and 43 degrees in the north bay. temperatures warm in the mid-60s for today and one of

looking live in san francisco, great place to get away this morning, meteorologist christina loren. we saw something in the sky this morning, rather unfamiliar with it. it felt a little wet and it was falling down. what is it? >> what's going on here? yeah, you know the return of showers, although very light. i think our biggest total so far is about 0.02 of an inch in santa clara. those are started to work their way north. and the sky is getting a little darker over belvedere. the north bay is overseeing the activity now. a live look at san bruno mountain where the hills are still luscious and green. the next couple of days looking towards a much better trend. our fire danger has decreased rapidly, just with the inclusion of these showers. but you can see, very light nothing heavy. and a lot of this is actually virga, which is precipitation that evaporates before hitting the surface. but i want to give you a preview, more on the way. we'll tell you just how much longer this will last and how much snowfall we're expecting. i think those numbers are going to be more impressive. that'

christina loren, good morning. >> good morning. it's going to be a gradual clearing. i want to show you the shot of 101 at 280 through san jose. it's a popular area, definitely increasing volume on both sides of the highway. what i notice about the shot we lose visibility entirely and it gets better so i think that will be the case for you. you'll walk out your front door in some spots, it will be nice and clear, you hit that highway and that fog is dangerous this morning. please give yourself extra time. when is it going to clear? we have a pretty good idea, 9:00 a.m. at the immediate coast, up and down the peninsula as well and towards 11:00 a.m. clearing in the inland valley spots where the fog is the thickest this morning. temperatures aren't that bad. it will be beautiful once we get rid of low visibility, 70 degrees in the north bay and 64 degrees in the south bay. we're covering traffic and weather together as we told you. the fog creeps up along the bay bridge, expecting to lose visibility here momentarily. we'll keep you updated on both. mike has the day off and we'll keep you updated. back to you, sam, laura and the
