city college is for all san franciscans. so let's take advantage of the amazing classes that they have. in one of the things i want to mention before i turn this over to supervisor fewer, as i know that, as mayor, i don't necessarily have complete control over our board of education, but i went to public schools here, and we know that supervisor yee and supervisor fewer also went to public schools here in san francisco, and the challenges that sometimes exist as certain schools versus other schools is something we need to address when we talk about equity. so for the first time ever, this city is making significant investment in addressing what we know are the biggest challenges at those schools. and includes teacher retention at certain schools in the southeast sector and other parts of the city, we are making a 10 million-dollar investment to provide additional bonuses to teachers in those particular schools to make sure that we try and hold onto them to work with so many kids that have, what we know sometimes are real cha

my name is elaine and i am a native san franciscan. i went to elementary through high school here, and i just retired as a deputy sheriff up -- sheriff about three years ago i'm still working. as far as housing, i was a homeowner, but i got into an upside down loan and lost it. i'm sorry. >> god bless. >> it has been hard for me to get home, and probably about four years ago, i lost my home. i had a short sale, i had been looking at this program for a long time, and i was able to put my application in, they picked my name, and i call it a blessing. i'm sorry, i don't want to be in here crying. i've been a san franciscan since 1976.ntly live in the mission district on 22nd street, near harrison, just seven blocks from the animal shelter. and i've been a volunteer at sfacc since 2004. and i've had two dogs, you know, personal -- personally. and i currently now only have a cat. but i've had multiple cats in the past. i've been volunteering at a.c.c. since 2004. and i've become increasingly interested in our public policy, as it relates to how we co-exist with our animals. i have taken many of the free courses offered through the shelter about dog behavior. i have mentored other volunteers and participated in special events, like pet pride day, the sfacc earthquake drill. we used to have a regular contingent in the pride parade. we haven't had that for several years. but i used to participate in that and other outreach events as well. along with three other volunteers, i'm sure all of you have been to the shelter. and you've seen those beautiful tiles, the tile project. myself and two other volunteers, we actually c

it is at one point 9%, so there is a couple thousand for san franciscans looking for work, but that is 13,300 working with mayor breed just yesterday, we had a job fair for older adults and adults with disabilities just to go out and meet to this community members where they are 500 men and women came out. that is what we seek to do to find those individuals, and so i think what we want to do to talk about the efforts around construction, and again, last time we were here, we said if you all have land, we all have a warehouse, we can train more, it continues to be a challenge. we're hopeful that we will talk to another contractor who is working with another agency who may have some land in the southeast, which would give us a chance to train even more men and women to help continue to provide those opportunities, but the numbers are what they are, so we can bring more men and women into the trades in a way that keeps pace with that big line, but will continue to be a challenge. i just wanted to share, though, with respect to commissioner scott, he asked us to make good on the proposal

crea is a second generation san franciscan and currently lived with six beautiful children. her grandfather immigrated from his home in mexico. he was an activist working alongside sister chavez and willie brown. in his footsteps she is a community organizer and advocate in the city. she was a part of the anti displacement coalition and later served as director of the homeless prenatal program where she supported 200 pregnant women. she is the director at the young women's freedom center. the organization which is headquartered in district six that worked within cancer rated women -- cancer rated women and girl, heal from trauma, advocate on behalf of themselves and sister and transform the conditions, systems and policies that lead to intergenerational cycles of poverty. at 16 she was one of the first to go through the young women's freedom center program. it was there that she learned we have the power to affect change, that experiences have power and knowledge and power can help her overcome any obstacle. her experiences at a youth at young women's freedom center inspired
