also, we lost a great san franciscan this week. the executive director had a close relationship with her and her family and she wanted to say some words. we would love to hear your thoughts. >> it is a little bit funny to go from laughing so hard to something that is pretty sad, but terrence was a very funny human and so that makes it okay. i just wanted to close this evening's hearing in his honor. he was a former member of the board of supervisors and district attorney for san francisco and he passed away this past friday, january 17th he was a dedicated and progressive public servant who loved the city with his whole heart, given grit and passion to every fight he championed whether in the proverbial ring as a young adults in the civil rights movement will coming of age or in the pursuit of justice and in defence of those in need later on in his career as district attorney for san francisco. he was a whole lot of amazing things in his career and public life, what he was also a huge part of my family. when i was a kid, my mom who

san franciscans will soon have access to a comprehensive mental health care program. we designed the system to provide access to mental health services, substance use treatment, and psychiatric medications to vulnerable residents, specifically those who are homeless, uninsured, or enrolled in med-cal with severe mental illness. this includes a number of components. a 24/7 mental health service center, a 24/7 street crisis response team, a drug sobering center, an office of coordinated care, increased beds at every level of the system, as well as case managers for everyone who needs them. an office of private health insurance accountability for those residents who do have private insurance but are unable to access timely care. i want to thank you to the hundreds, the literally hundreds of front-line workers, labor unions, and advocates, including nurses, mental health care workers, social workers, family members, consumers of mental health services, and community agency leaders for believing that we can do better. a very special thank you again to my colleague supervis

we have in place to hopefully address these issues, and the bottom line, it starts with us as san franciscans and people that live, visit and work in our city is slow down, follow the rules, and that is the first piece of it. but if those things don't happen, education and enforcement have to happen. and we are doing both, educating and enforcing. we will continue to do that, and hopefully we'll make headway this year on reducing this number. the goal is zero. that's why it is called vision zero. so we have a lot of work to do. >> i've seen statistics that the city put out or it's been in the press about the number of vehicles in the city. are we able to track the number of vehicles every day on the streets, particularly ride share, ride hail vehicles? because i suspect there's a correlation there somehow. >> i believe nca has some ways to predict or to extrapolate how many vehicles are on our street. and i don't have those numbers. but i know that they do. and i will follow up and see if i can get my hands on those numbers for the next report. i believe that they do. because we have traffic
