last year we lost 165 san franciscans to covid in january of 2021. this month to date we have lost five. now we don't know what covid has in store for us, but we do have great defenses against this virus. vaccinations and boosters and i expect in the relatively near future effective antiviral medication. we know how to layer defenses. during periods with high transmission when we must protect front line workers and vulnerable by masking, testing, improving ventilation. staying home when sick. omicron taught us we have vulnerabilities in the system of care. we need testing to be accessible, affordable and fast to truly use this tool together safely. we are working with our state and federal partners to make rapid over the counter tests easy to come by and requiring the healthcare system partners to step up and do their part with regard to testing as they have done with hospitalization. we anticipate new tools to become available soon such as retroviral medications to better protect people who are especially vulnerable to severe disease. as we come out

the best thing to do for the majority of san franciscans is to close jfk drive. i would also like to say something about the survey. most of the respondents, 65% were white, and these people made between $100,200,000 a year, and most of them lived around the park. there were absolutely no respondents at all from the southeast portion of san francisco, only to .6% were black and only five-point one% were hispanic. i want to caution you on putting these on the surveys because we know that they are skewed in favor of members of the bike coalition because the bike coalition is given advanced information about the survey, and they are skewed and unfair. it gives everyone the false assumption that the majority of san franciscans want all of these roads closed, like jfk. also, let's say i did and i was able to get onto jfk with my walker. the bicycle riders are not, in any way, monitored by the police, and they do not obey stop signs. they are going, like the caller said, 30 miles an hour. they are rude and arrogant. the yellow people to get out of the way. that is anot

many of our san franciscans had their houses and their garages broken into, businesses broken into, and we saw an uptick. the first half of this year, it was a significant uptick. so we adjusted our deployment. we put officers where these incidents were happening including putting our plain clothed officers, deploying them at night. surveilling people who we believe to be involved in those burglaries. we made some key arrests. we were tracking the prolific burglars and we were able to make arrests on many of them. and we started to see about mid year, about may, we started to see those numbers decline and they declined throughout the year. so we ended the year on a positive note with burglaries. but we're not out of the woods on burglaries. as you can see, we're far higher than 2019 and the previous year. so we still have a lot of work to do and we still have a lot of people to hold accountable for what we're doing. what we find with the burglary suspects is many of them are repeat offenders and prolific. those are the ones we have concentrated on. those people, those individuals. we've

there are so many different things that the library provides for san franciscans that i feel like a lot't have a library card. i've never been there. they need to come down and check it out and find out what we have. the people who are hiding stuff in their sellers and wondering what to do with these old photos or old junk, whether it is hippie stuff or punk stuff, or stuff from their grandparents, if they bring it here to us, we can preserve it and archive it and make it available to the public in the future. >> how i really started my advocacy was through my own personal experiences with discrimination as a trans person. and when i came out as trans, you know, i experienced discrimination in the workplace. they refused to let me use the women's bathroom and fired me. there were so many barriers that other trans folks had in the workplace. and so when i finished college, i moved out to san francisco in the hopes of finding a safer community. >> and also, i want to recognize our amazing trans advisory committee who advises our office as well as the mayor, so our transadvisory community
