an hour south of san francisco and the san francisco bay area. trump motorcade had to pull off the highway and four-wheel it where there was not an exit from the highway. they pull off to a grassy patch where they let mr. trump and his security and entourage to basically hoof it across a field into the back door of the hotel. that's the only way they could get him in. hundreds of protesters who were on scene, a lot of whom were peaceful, but some whom blocked the road in front of hotel. two dozen protesters tore down police barricades and flooded into the hotel that was hosting the convention. there was a series of altercations, pushing and shoving. some trump supporters reporting getting kicked and punched and spit on. there were also altercations between protesters and police. burlingame police said five people were arrested. there was one injury reported. that was the scene today in california as donald trump made his way to the san francisco bay area. donald trump may yet win the republican primary in california. it's a ways off. it's about f

san francisco is offering an actual solution. ken wayne has the story next. >>> homelessness a serious problem in the bay area. particularly in san francisco perform the city spends 240 million-dollars a year on homeless problems and even as the numbers on the street went up by 4%. officials trying to solve the problem and mixed results but a new effort showing some process. >> ken wayne looked at how the city is using a new tactic to combat the process, the navigation system. >> yes, the innovative minds, some of the greatest here and finally there is some hope that we could be turning the corner on one of the biggest problems in our own backyard. >> we have seen the success in san francisco. for having success, let's blow it out and expand it and put additional resources against the city and and get the homelessness off of the streets. >> and to put them together will save money. >> it is much more cost effective to provide housing with a rich support of services meaning an array of needed services that allow people to make a transmission from being on the street to living in a house and supported situation.

challenging problems. >>> airbnb launched a crackdown on hosts who violate san francisco's laws on short-term rentals. nbc bay area's marianne favro joining us with a look at what it does to stop people cashing in on breaking the rules. >> reporter: san francisco has a law on the books that says homeowners can only list their primary residence on short-term rentals. airbnb today said it's going to do two specific things. first it's going to investigate people who list multiple san francisco homes and it says it will purge the listing of hosts who've turned private homes into illegal hotels. according to airbnb, as of mid-march, more than 1,000 of its house listings in san francisco were controlled by hosts who list more than one home for rent on their site. that's 1/5 of all the house listings in san francisco. the company's global director of public policy says the goal of the new crackdown is to make sure each host has only one listing. some critics accuse airbnb of making the bay area's housing shortage even worse because it gives property owners a financial incentive to convert homes into short-term rentals for

bay. san francisco down the peninsula and towards the south bay. it will be patchy in nature for most of the bay area except for san francisco where it will be a little bit thicker. high pressure continues just offshore. right now that's keeping temperatures mild for the interior valleys. as this area of high pressure continues to just entrench itself across the west one thing it's not going to do is provide drier offshore winds that typically heat up the coastline. so it's going to get mild for the interior valleys, we'll see drastically different weather for the coast. we'll detail that for you now. for the interior valleys san jose goes up to 73 degrees on sunday. we go down a little bit for monday. then check out this jump in temperatures by wednesday 80 degrees. going to get warm here in the bay area next week. then you'll be able to see for the coastline we continue with the 60s right through monday. throughout wednesday that's the warmest we'll be able to get in san francisco are some low and also mid 70s. so again, watch out for that warmer weather next week. as we take you to that microclima

peninsula over to san francisco, again, upper 70s to near 80 degrees, which means if you're going to head out to the cherry blossom festival, mike and robert out there from nbc bay areatemperatures in the upper 70s. so, maybe a little warm in some of the kimonos tomorrow around san francisco with the warm to hot temperatures from the north bay into the tri-valley. oakland seeing temperatures in the mid-80s for the baseball game out there. gorgeous conditions. the ball will probably carry pretty well with those low humidity and warm temperatures out there out at the ballpark tomorrow, numbers in the mid-80s. so, the warmest temperatures we'll see over the next seven days, as you can see on the bottom of the screen, will be thanks to high pressure holding on probably until about monday afternoon. then as we head towards tuesday, the first of two systems we're tracking will begin to at least toss a slight chance of showers on wednesday. the main effect of that system, though, bringing down those temperatures going from near 80 degrees in the north bay on monday, 60s pretty much bay area wide as we approach the middle part of the week, except in san jose. still some low
