(applause). >> and my role today is then to also, i've said earlier a personal thank you, but to welcome up here your current trustee who has not only personally sacrificed to make sure this building got up but i saw him month after month, day after day, with all the different family soerbses talking about the vision we had to get this building built, to get out of filbert, the

unction taking care of our families, chinatown and our chinese community and just being part of the amazing fabric that is our mental health community here in san francisco. congratulations. (applause) >>> supervisor chiu, thank you so much for this honor. thank you, board of supervisors also. i wanted to say that our chinatown child development center just celebrated our 40th anniversary and thank you for being there. and also, you know, before our agency formed with greater, there was only one chinese child receiving mental health services in the entire city of san francisco. and, so, the pioneers in our city decided that we needed bilingual services, chinese bilingual services in our city. and, so, our agency was created in 1972. and so 40 years later i'm happy to say that every year we are able to serve over 350 children, youth, and their families at our clinic. and, so, it's really important, i really like to, you know, thank the board of supervisors for recognizing mental health awareness month in this city. and i really thank you for recognizing me and for providing services here. but i want to also, you know, -- taking on the excitement of the sa

in sap fran's chinatown you can find -- san francisco's chinatown you can find music, art and activism against a delicacy. >> when we look at it it does not make any sense. >> reporter: at the imperial palas the menu has it for $25 a bowl. they voice their opposition here to assembly bill 376 that bans the sales of shark fins. >> yes, the current law a laws you to have other parts of the shark. that is where the problem comes in. that is where, as you heard, a sense of injustice, a sense of discrimination. >> reporter: members of peta had a protest and talked about the shark fin. >> it is obtained by fishermen pulling the shark up and cut the fins off of the animals and throw them back in the water to slowly die. >> the governor signed the bill last year despite current laws that bans the practice of shark finning. >> [indiscernible] >> >> it is a delicacy. a lot of people like to seat it. >> reporter: back if chinatown we met a chinese american who liked the soup and supports the sharks. >> i wish i -- it is cruel how they treat the shark. dump them back in the water after they cut th

shin, san francisco native. in chinatown i am an elder. i am on the board of chinatown's committee development; and i in the business partner of darryl honda. the only see him on committee meetings and i get the rest of them. i have been working with darryl for several years. i work in three things in a partner: us you work as hard as i do? does he have personal integrity? is he smart? he meets all three criteria. he is a number one win-win problem solver. in the board of appeals there will be any winners and losers of the losers will not feel as bad when they get the message from darryl. he has an incredible ability to read people, both said and not said, and intuitively can connect with people. he listens with compassion. and with heart. and ultimately delivers a message that will be clear but with kindness. another thing, as realtors we are challenge with integrity issues everyday. it happens and open houses, in offers, from colleagues. working with him i can say 100 percent that i trust them with both my life, my real estate dealings,

past one year of organizing around this issue diverse pockets of san francisco including bayview hunters point, mission district, chinatown, the dloin -- tenderloin and others. if we were to have free muni for youth it would build an incentive and a habit for young people to utilize muni as their with a free muni bus pass children from different families can get to their after school curricular activities, school, tutoring and it's something for a healthy community. this does build life long ridership into young people's lifestyles. supervisors and mta i hope you will seriously consider getting free muni for youth because it is something our community really needs. thank you. >> supervisor wiener: thank you. next speaker. >> [speaking spanish] >> translator: good morning before making a decision today i want to remind you of all the decisions you've made before that impact riders and that one of those decisions being to put armed policemen on the buses. and by maki6jp)ñ that decision u didn't consider the impact that it would have to our communities, the brutal treatment of our young people on the buses. and you considere

san francisco. we are small. we focus mainly on the tenderloin, chinatown, bayview, visitation. we do a lot of expansion. people start small through the credit union and then want to go to the bank. we know we are limited. we cannot afford to give out a big loan. starting from the credit union, we educate them about filing taxes properly and then moving on to the bank, a small one, expansion, and we work with the bank. the bank and credit union are similar. we do allow tax returns, projections. credit unions do not charge an additional loan or processing fee. processing time, on a small loan, -- consumer loans probably a few days. because we require a business plan, sometimes it takes longer. business plans take a while. especially bank statements. we need to see consistent income coming in. so far, a credit union delinquent rate is quite low because we are working with a client. we want to keep that low and as part of our mission. there is no application fee. if you are interested in an application or information, i have brochures, or you can give us a call. >> thank you. next is marked with wells fargo

san francisco. early days of the city, the city grows up in what is the financial district on the edge of chinatown.verything they rely on for existence is the golden gate. it's of massive importance to the people what comes in and out of san francisco bay. they can't see it where they are. they get the idea to build a giant wooden structure. the years that it was up here, it gave the name telegraph hill. it survived although the structure is long gone. come to the 1870's and the city has growed up remarkably. it's fueled with money from the nevada silver mines and the gold rush. it's trying to be the paris of the west. now the beach is the suburbs, the we will their people lived on the bottom and the poorest people lived on the top because it was very hard getting to the top of telegraph hill. it was mostly lean-to sharks and bits of pieces of houses up here in the beginning. and a group of 20 businessmen decided that it would be better if the top of the hill remained for the public. so they put their money down and they bought four lots at the top of the hill and they gave them to the city. lily h

san francisco. prior to that hearing actually a group of many of our residents from neighborhoods, chinatown and south of market and the tenderloin had been convening meetings fore over a year to discuss what we could do about the citywide epidemic that has been plaguing our neighborhoods. through the work group this legislation came forwards a series of recommendations on what we could do to better abate bedbugs and the bedbug abatement issue here in san francisco. this legislation will address three primary issues. the first of course is to actually collect data on bedbug abatement. so to require pest control operators to report to the department of public health on bedbug abatements and to have disclosures and create better information by the city and county of san francisco for tenants, our operators and for our property owners. so i wanted to call up two individuals who have been working very steadily on this project. mr. vining and miss chung.
