so the bay area is on the world stage with san francisco's chinatown preparing for its iconic lunar new year parade. meanwhile thousands of basketball fans from all over the world are in both oakland and san francisco for nba all-star game festivities. nba all-star activities already started in san francisco, in oakland also ahead of sunday's game. basketball's biggest fans will be hitting chase center and the oakland arena this weekend, but the influx of fans may not be enough to save oakland's largest hotel. we've learned the marriott on broadway has defaulted on its loan. it is now at risk of foreclosure. as da lin reports, this comes after two major oakland hotels shut down in the last six months. >> reporter: a lot of nba workers and fans staying at the marriott because of the all-star weekend festivities, but the hotel overall has seen a big drop in bookings post pandemic. the question now is will it shut down like the other hotels? the marriott city center hotel has been part of the oakland skyline for decades. it's welcomed visitors from around the globe. this was also home to t

. >> miss chinatown usa crowned its newest winner in san francisco. 13 women representing chinatowns from across the country competed for the title inside the westin saint francis on friday night. >> it is the sisterhood. there is nothing else like this pageant. the community within it is something so special. >> ashlyn tsui won the crown in 2023. >> electric. there is so much going on in the city and everything is just exciting. leading up to the chinese new year parade. >> the city is buzzing. earlier in the day, we found the colorful and elaborate parade floats that will make their way from market and second street and end on columbus. if you want to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds, visit chinatown. 500,000 people are expected to visit this weekend. the chinese new year community fair will take place right here on grand avenue on both saturday and sunday. >> she. >> this pageant has celebrated chinese culture for decades. it brings a spotlight back to the community. crystal li won the crown in 2022. >> we really hope that with this special event and leading up to chinese

it took a chinese-american gentleman born in san francisco chinatown and his community and the organization also known as the chinese six companies of the chinese consolidated benevolent association. if can get that out to bring community involvement and funds to have the supreme court first articulate the term birthright citizenship and it reminds me that we always have to be vigilant and all of our rights we can't take it for granted. i think i speak for member carry on when we were in law school and i see ronnie saying here general counsel for the sheriff's office i remember my constitutional law professor always say anytime something was going up to the supreme court in reviewing rights that rights had always been expanded. this is the first time in our lifetime, my lifetimehat the rights haveeen taken away. so i just want to remind people that we are here and we are a sanctuary city and everyone is safer with a sanctuary city. that means irrespective of someone's status they can report if they are a victim of crime, if they've witnessed a crime. so we are. let me repeat that we are all
