live to san francisco's design district for the latest on the statewide effort to clear homeless encampments now for a look at what is happening around the bay. and right now, san francisco city workers are working to make good on governor gavin newsom's executive order to clear homeless encampments. so let's take you live to san francisco's design district right now. and this is at division street, where crews, you can see began tearing down tents, sweeping and cleaning sidewalks about an hour ago. it all started, and it's all part of their effort to tackle the homeless crisis. you're going to see a lot of activity through there throughout the day. well, after people are swept out, the question now remains where will they go? it's usual protocol for planned cleanouts requires crews to give proper notice and resources available to those who are homeless. but according to memos posted in the design district area, the city says it will provide shelter at last check. the city's shelter bed waitlist stands at 148 people long. we talked to a few of the residents in the area, receiving early warnings to pack up, and they said they'd be happy to accept shelter on the spot, but they

san francisco, kristie. tell us about this lawsuit. who's named in it? well, according to the city attorney's office here in san francisco, they're saying that this is a first of its kind lawsuit against the owners of 16 different websites. they're saying that the sites allow users to create non-consensual nude images using ai. the lawsuit alleges that there were violations of state and federal laws going on here, and they're looking for the removal of the websites themselves. and also, they say to stop the defendants from engaging in this type of conduct in the future, kristie, you got a chance to speak to a tech expert at san jose state. must be a growing concern with ai growing in popularity. what did this person say? well, first, we were told that prominent ai companies do have limitations on the type of imagery that their models will generate. but that one tech expert that we spoke with pointed out two possible ways of addressing this type of issue, which is regulation, or some of the bills that we're starting to see come out around this. the other, he says, is what tech compa

upper 80s in livermore and concord, low to mid-80s in fremont and redwood city, 60s and 70s san francisco and oakland and low to mid-80s in the santa clara valley, very similar on sunday and again monday and then things will change even in san francisco. we are in for an increase in temperatures as we hit the middle portion of next week. temperatures really will spike tuesday from the low 70s on labor day to almost 80 degrees in the city by tuesday and slowly backing down as we head through the rest of next week. it will take a little longer for temperatures to back off farther inland. san jose is a huge jump, 81 on monday to 96 degrees on tuesday and then the slow retreat towards closer to normal temperatures for the first full weekend in september. as usual, the hottest spots will be east of the oakland hills, livermore flirting with 100 degrees from tuesday through thursday and back to the mid-90s as we finish off the abbreviated post labor day workweek. let's focus on the seven-day forecast. in general, inland temperatures are in the 80s as we head through the weekend and then we have

a recent count found that 40% of the city's unhoused population came to san francisco from another county, and in some cases, from other states. the mayor says the city leads with compassion. first, we have a team of people that are out there every day helping to provide services and resources to people in need. the move comes as the city steps up its sweep of homeless encampments that began this week. the city's department of emergency management says so far they haven't seen a dramatic increase in the number of people accepting shelter beds. but the city says many of those being contacted have been resistant to offers of shelter in the past. >> our hands are a little less tied because of the recent, judgment from the supreme court and the ninth circuit, just allows us to do our job. >> those seeing their encampments cleared say this all feels like a hassle. miguel, who didn't want to use his last name, says he already has a place to stay at a nearby navigation center. so the mayor's plans. he says, will be ineffective. >> no, that's not smart, because a lot of us are already in shelter.
