police departments will now audit every law enforcement agency in alameda, contra costa and san francisco counties. there's comes after 47 alameda county deputies were removed from their jobs after it did surface that they had received unsuitable marks on their psychological exams. the california commission on peace officer standards and training told ktvu that a letter was sent to all the police departments in those three counties, asking them to make their hiring files available dating back to 2016. california is the first state in the country to announce it is phasing out those thin plastic produce bags at the grocery store. governor newsom signed a bill requiring grocery stores to replace them with either recycled paper bags or bags made of compostable plastic by the start of 2025. the current produce bags are not recyclable and because they're so thin and tend to stick together, they're very difficult to reuse for anything. some stores, including trader joe's already used compostable bags, governor newsom and three other west coast leaders signed a new agreement today to combat climate change
