hundreds of volunteers at the san francisco marin foodbank have been ramping up to prepare for the many families in need. earlier this week a donation from a food company brought hundreds of turkeys into the foodbank's freezer. but that's not even close to the goal the organization has set for thanksgiving. in addition to turkeys the foodbank encourages donations of canned goods and other non perisiable foods. a little boy from anaheim is out of the hospital after he was attacked by dogs. his mother tried to save him but she was also attacked. this is video of the scene.caught on surveillance cameras. you can see the helpless mother.shielding her son as the dog continued to bite. luckily, neighbors were able to fight the dogs off. the family believes the canine duo was in a neighbor's yard. and somehow got loose. the mother was unscathed.but her son suffered serious injures. neighbors held the dogs after the attack until animal control officers came and took them away. four people have been killed after a suicide bombing in afghanistan. the blast happened saturday. government officials

the fire department showed up immediately assessed what has happened the san francisco police department particularly, the marine unit which i've had the pleasure of working with on the waterfront jumped in and paramedics came to the site. a couple of individuals were rescued from the water but could not breathe and so cpr was given immediately on the shores and paramedics immediately rushed those that perhaps were not indicating weight consciousness into our zuckerberg san francisco general hospital trauma center. there, life was saved when you look at this potential huge tragedy you wonder how as a city we kind of were lucky but it's not luck. i will tell you it's not luck. it is people who every day are sensing that something could happen and they were ready and this is what we have as a city often times talked about being a resilient city, a city that's ready and prepared that were so many people, not just the professionals, not just police and fire and public health and paramedics were actually trained to do this, but ordinary citizens who may have been there also had a sense. they were going to save lives
