we went to san francisco state university to get my credentials and my master's degree. we had to close the school down to get to ethnic studies. the police marching on us at san francisco state. after leaving new orleans and coming here, it was still a fight. comparing the schools, yes, i can see the different -- i can see the difference. those parents are there, and they bring in money for those schools, and they have all kinds of book fairs and arts festivals, computer labs, and at hunters point, it is a whole different story. you do not have a computer labs there. we do not have a parent involvement. it is a total difference. >> your perspective on jamal, awaiting the decision on whether he will be executed or spend his life in prison. >> he should be released. san jose state university. thank you. >>> # it is the next chapter in the same-sex marriage marriage showdown. this morning the california supreme court hears arguments on prop 8. kristy seifkin is in san franciscoplain the question the high court is being asked to answer. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. in just a few hours we'll start to see supporters lining the steps of the state building just over my shoulder having a sit-in here that they are calling, proposition 8 won't stand. this is happening around 10 a.m. when the case is being heard in court. they are going to see if the supporters of the prop 8 measure can legally try to appeal that measure being overturned. it was just about a year ago that justice warren found that the proposition 8 vial -- that justice vaughn walker found that the proposition 8 violated equality laws. it was appealed and the appeals court has turned to the state court to weigh in on the matter before a federal decision is made. in today's hearing the court will hear arguments from perry versus brown which questions whether those sponsors of the proposition can legally defend the measure in the ninth circuit court of appeals after both the attorney general
