the train was medical from straemt to san jose. emergency work hes responded at the train tracks near carlson and cutting boulevards at about 7:15 a.m. but the woman was already dead. no one on the train was injured. the incident caused delays to as many as eight trains traveling through richmond today. >>> in san jose, one person is in the hospital tonight recovering from gunshot wounds after a shooting last night. the shooting happened on the 3200 block of loma verde drive. the victim was shot several times and rushedth to e hospital in critical condition, say the police. they're investigating to see whether the shooting was gang related. >>> a 50-year-old pilot is alive after his crop dusting helicopter crashed into a field of corn in the east bay this morning. the helicopter was flying just 20 to 30 feet above the ground when it went down near highway 4 on the outskirts of brentwood. the pilot was taken to the medical center as a precaution chblt the ntsb will investigate to determine the cause of the accident. no one else was

the san jose firefighters were reinstated thanks to a grant from the federal government. ktvu's jade hernandez joins us live to explain what this means for public safety. >> reporter: well the move to rehire 22 san jose firefighters may eliminate brownouts in the city. live at the academy for a ceremony which wrapped up an hour and a half ago. >> this is great. kristy seifkin reports. >> reporter: the "san jose mercury news" is reporting that as many as 14 pg&enspectors may have falsified checks on underground electrical facilities in santa clara county and san francisco and in the eats bay. -- in the east bay. now, pg&e's spokesman in that report has said that as many as 23 underground enclosures listed as inspected actually were not inspected and that another 50 enclosures were either suspect or not likely opened. pg&e also concluded that another seven underground enclosures may not have been opened and properly checked. the reason that pg&e even found out about these falsified inspections was an employee tip that led them to launch an investigation last november. it was during that investigation that pg&e identified a suspect employee, a worker who was supposed to have checked an underground enclosure in 2009 near the delmas and park avenues in san jose and it was in may of last year that that enclosure exploded and knocked out power for about 1,000 customers. that discovery is what prompted pg&e to look into these inspections at hundreds
