downtown san jose pretty look.he fireworks at the discovery museum were a beautiful sight and you'll be good and cold. 40 degrees. wind speeds 3 miles per hour, but we're dipping down into the 30s in some spots. look at santa rosa 39 degrees right now. santa cruz 38, and it is going to get a little bit warmer, daytime highs are expected to warm up into the 50s and 60s but i want to show you the temperature change in some spots including san jose, and look at satellite radar right now. clear skies. we have a good amount of mix and sunshine in through the afternoon, high of about 60 degrees in san jose and the next few days here is a look at what we can expect. the chilly nights, the rain chances will stay to our north for new year's eve and new year's day we'll remain dry and looking out way ahead, by way ahead i mean next weekend into friday and saturday. our best chance of rain might move in late friday. we have this system we're tracking here, but the good news is it looks like that's going to stay far off north

to become the newest city councilmember here in san jose. but now her campaign is on hold after she admits to killing a pedestrian. she is best in the bay area for being the cofounder of the bay area women's march but on monday earlier this week just before noon, she hit and killed a pedestrian on blossom hill road. the victim was identified is 66- year-old tim starkey who was working as a handyman. he had just arrived and was outside his truck which was parked on blossom hill road. she was inside at the time of the accident. a neighbor alerted her to the tragedy. >> he was lovely. i was in shock. >> reporter: she is one of three candidates running for the election and a vacancy for district 10. in a statement released by her campaign she says she is, quote, heartbroken and deeply saddened by this tragic death and she is taking time to recover from the accident and grieve the loss of light. the victim's family told kpix 5, quote, his smile and humor were the favorite tools he brought to every job. he was so popular he had assignments lined u
