we're live here at marisco's san juan number 3 in downtown san jose. this place has been shut down for nearly two weeks now. it looks like the big question of what caused this outbreak may never be known. test results are in for all the employees and it looks like just one of them came back as positive. but investigators say that employee got sick from the food, not the other way around. in other words, that employee likely did not bring the shigella bacteria into the restaurant and contaminate the food. >> we do not believe that the individual who tested positive was the cause of this outbreak. but instead, contracted the disease as a result from eating food from this restaurant. >> and so we will likely never know where the shigella came from since two-thirds of food- borne illness cases are unsolved. they never found the bacteria in the food samples, either. the 190 reported cases, all but three ate at the restaurant which means the rate of secondary infections was very low. and yes, the county says this outbreak is finally winding down. live in dow
