i will update san leandro for those who have missed the last couple updates. over here, northbound 101. traffic is jammed right here through san jose. look at this stretch. at 680/280 but it starts right there all of the way past the earlier crash at brokaw. another one just north of there. we have a slower drive past the airport. 101 a tough drive 87 now starting to see a little more traffic and 280 northbound off with that 101/280 interchange will likely see more traffic. folks trying to get out of that backup. that south bay is a major focus right now. the tri-valley is looking normal now. 580 heading south on 680 as well as 880 shows a smooth typical build in towards fremont. we did have that earlier full closure for san leandro but let's look north of the san mateo bridge and it's actually looking pleasant. the bay bridge. we'll talk about that in a second. i want to focus over here towards san leandro area where northbound routes. back at speed for that stretch. that was completely closed by an earlier crash. in fact, bob ridell was out there covering the

the crash happened -- san leandro. the crash happened at davis street northbound shortly after 3:00 this morning. and the latest word from chp now is that they're diverting northbound traffic off the davis vote exit to international -- street exit to international boulevard. you can head over to 98 and get back onto the freeway from there. an extra long wait to get to work if you're trying to bet there on time. probably use 580. all green on the sen sores right now between oakland and that area. big riggings also aoutlawsed to use that -- rigs also aoutlawsed to use 580 as well. they just issued a second traffic alert this time in hercules. it is countercommute. it's the eastbound lanes of 80 approaching willow avenue. two car crash. ling and one maybe on fire. so -- crash. and one may be on fire. fortunately not a huge delay out of pee knoll but it could cause problems especially westbound. again only lanes blocked though countercommute direction. let's go outside and show you a quiet commute. the bay bridge. so far e

this is just north of davis street here in san leandro. you can see traffic is simply at a standstill right now. as we push down here, you can see all those flashing lights. those are the first responders dealing with this multicar crash. a chain reaction crash involving a total of seven cars. for some video from a short time ago. we understand one of those cars burst into flames this morning. we also do understand that at least one person had to be freed from a car. that was involved in this crash. had to be freed with the jaws of life by first responders. several people have been injured out here. we do understand, but the chp has not been able to tell us the severity of those injuries this morning.

i-880 in san leandro over on davis street. is a huge surprise because just 30 minutes ago it was a parking lot. we showed you those pictures. just in the -- at the top of the hour and now all lanes are open. we were surprised by that. because this just happened a couple of hours ago. here is a look at the fiery crash video we got in the last hour into our newsroom. the first report of this crash northbound 880 at davis street. at 3:00 this morning. according to the chp. up to seven vehicles collided in was probably a chain reaction crash. started with one vehicle spinning out. we know five people were injured including one person critically injured. one person was trapped inside a vehicle. and so chp issued a cig alert obviously since 880 is so important to the east bay and to the commute. that's why they worked to get everything off to the shoulder. that's why they were so quick to make this happen. but still it's a surprise from the beginning of all this to the -- when they opened up the lanes. we're talking about two, two a
