nbc bay area's bob redell joins us live from the coroner's office in san mateo county with what officials say happened. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, marla. we just listened to a news conference that took place within the past 45 minutes, san mateo county coroner's office, the coroner did confirm that 16-year-old passenger ye ming yuan did survive the asiana flight 214 crash but was killed later when one of the first responds, a fire department vehicle, ran her over, causing multiple blunt injuries. the fire chief, joanne hayes white, spoke offering condolences and apologize to the girl's family, offering to meet face to face if they so wished, adding that her and her colleagues are heartbroken, especially considering that they are in the business of saving lives. the chief confirmed the young girl was run over by specialized airport fire truck called an arf, which stands for airport rescue firefighting. they are still trying to figure out which one was specifically responsible for her death as there were many on scene that afternoon. these are the trucks that were

they say that san mateo county ems transported 21 patients. that's just according to san mateo and san francisco. so right now doing some quick math. that's 33 roughly 33 transports to area hospitals. we don't know whether those injuries were minor, major, there's so much we don't know. we know this. that at 5:30, there will be a news conference. the ntsb will be holding a news conference at 5:30. we are going to bring that to you live right here on msnbc. at that point we should learn a little bit more information. again, as we heard just a few moments ago, the bulk of the information probably won't be gleaned until they're able to get those so-called black box recorders off the plane. we use that term, black box recorder. precisely what kind of information do those devices give us? >> well, they're really orange. and there are two. there's the cockpit voice recorder. that simply records the conversation, not the talk over the airwaves to the air traffic controllers. but the private conversation in the cockpit between a pilot and the co-pilot

marquez was booked into the san mateo county jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon gravated mayhem while committing a hate crime. >>> firefighters in san jose had to use the jaws of life to rescue a driver trapped inside a car after slamming right into two trees. we have the new photos here released by the san jose fire department. this happened overnight. at least a dozen firefighters were on scene. they had to cut into both doors of that car to finally free the driver. firefighters at this point aren't sure exactly what caused the car to loos lose control. that driver remains hospitalized. it's unclear what condition he or she is in. >>> the san jose fire department just released these photos. the kitchen of at least one apartment unit in japantown is gutted after a late night fire. the window was gone, pile of debris scattered across the lawn. firefighters say an accidentala cooking fire caused that damage at a complex on north third street near jackson. two people live in that unit and now need to find a new place to live. >>> this appears to be a system breakdow

well as grant from the cal-trans with also contributions from our partners, some of them in san mateo county which is the congestion management agency for san mateo. cal train is also contributed some funds to the study. the scope is in your packet. the selection panel for the procurement including zach from the transportation authority as well as the sfmta and from cal transand ccag. the panel selected three of the teams for interviewing. after the interviews the panel selected the [inaudible] team as the top ranked proposer. based on that teams very strong urban design and complete streets expertise and services. it was the only team that dedicate edd urban designer. the team also demonstrated some strong out reach capabilities and /aeu poach. we think that's important for parts of the community who have not heard of bus rapid transit before and will come in handy as we go through that outreach. all four of the teams that submitted met or exceeded the dbe requirement of 9 percent. the selected team has a par test /paeugs rate of 9 percent. representative from the team fair and pure is here

it concerns a bus line on geneva and harry way connecting the station into san mateo county connecting with the trans station and the new hunter point development. the line had been envisioned and the san francisco admission transportation has been focused on the infrastructure improvements and making that service face and reliable. the study is a collaboration with the san francisco agencies as well as the san mateo agencies concluding the government agency in san francisco. the study escape includes a dedicated community to provide information on the community it will meet quarterly and it represents the at large community. 7 of those members will be appointed by the community board and two would be at large seats like pedestrians and bicyclists and the environment etc. and four of seats will be 30i79 by sea tag. if this structure and appointment process is approved then the staff would come back to the committee with a pool of candidates in september. we're trying to get the structure approved. i see no questions let's open this up for public comment. seeing none, no public comments
