this is the live view from san rafael hill looking east/southeast and that flaring sending up a significant amount of smoke, but not as much as even 30 minutes ago. the winds are blowing east-southeast over the bay, but also blowing it in the direction of the southern end of marin county and towards san francisco. the winds are fairly light, but you saw the direction that smoke was blowing, east to west towards some of the more densely populated parts of marin county and san francisco. so far this is the latest air quality map from purple air. these aren't the official sensors from the environmental protection agency, but there are many more of them and they update more frequently, so they're more use influence this scenario. we're mostly seeing moderate air quality levels in the yellow with a few in the red. those might be malfunctioning sensors or might be an indication some of that smoke is settling down towards ground level. we'll keep an eye on that map and how much smoke the refinery is producing through the rest of this evening. >> thanks, paul. >>> adam spring from contra costa coun

it is north of the san rafael bridge, it sits on the point, there. smoke did do exactly what they intended. the only downside to this was a little bit of northerly flow pushed more of that smoke over the city. there was about a three hour window where you were registering 115 on the hui index, unhealthy for sensitive groups on the east side of san francisco today. if you were smelling smoke, that is what it was. most other places were okay. there were a couple local spots in marin that did that as well, but when you look at the hui on here, for just about everybody else, you are all doing okay. let's look at daytime highs tomorrow. when we do that, those numbers are just as nice as today was. we are not changing the weather, really at all tomorrow. even though we have a week weather system that is creeping in, trying to bring a chance of light showers. so, in order to get specific just how likely that is, we will say goodbye to the map, lose the numbers, and let the virtual map sink back into the floor. i want to focus on what this first alert dopple
