area is problematic. already this morning, san rafael, san quentin seeing that. the areas of yellow and orange, significant rainfall coming down. it's really going to hover over the region for the next several hours into tomorrow. so we'll see this pick up later this afternoon. sausalito seeing heavy rain right now. south san francisco just got a lot of heavy rain and that's now moving further out east. highway 101 getting a lot of rainfall as well. it's widespread. any city in the region, you're dealing with it. also look at piedmont. i-580 will be very slick out there this morning, and will have ponding issues because of the rain coming down so quickly in a short amount of time. look at 680 right through there. this is all going to be moving east. it's coming from the coastline, picked up a lot of water and moisture as it made landfall. about a half inch per hour in these areas of orange here. if it stays over about 15 minutes or longer, that could be a lot of flash flooding concerns. we also have damaging winds expected from the storm system, gusts 40 to 50 mil

san francisco, 52 in concord. we will be chilly tonight because we lack the blanket of cloud cover over the bay area, san rafael tonight active and clear now until wednesday afternoon. let's talk about the mountains. the middle of the week another storm could drop up to about a foot of snow at about 5,000 feet in elevation. get high up above 7 or 8,000 feet, we could see 1 to 3 feet of new snow by friday morning. travel delays are likely, but we'll take the travel delays if we get the snowfall. your storm is sitting to the north and west of san francisco. there have been almost one every two tore three days the past two weeks -- or three days the past two weeks. we had one this morning. we have this one and then the storm track will stop carrying them into northern california and lift north. a ridge of high pressure will replace it and that means the train of storms every couple days will end once we hit thursday. tomorrow morning watch out for fog, especially san pablo points east and the central valley. in the afternoon we'll get blue sky. wednesday morning here comes the cloud cover and rain toward north sonoma coun

as we go into san francisco, hillsboro area seeing light rain. san rafaelad some really heavy rain just a few minutes ago. but starting to get a little bit lighter as you're heading out the door. might be a really good time. we're also starting to see that light rain moving across much of napa county and then as we head a little bit farther south we're seeing nothing but green here on the radar with some times of really heavy downpours that are starting to move through the trivalley. that's what we'll see the rest of the morning. we'll start to see more red on the map here by about 7:30 for parts of the north bay. that means some really heavy rain, some gusty winds and even a slight chance that we could have some thunderstorms. so, we do expect the rainfall intensity to pick up as we go into late morning, early afternoon. after all is said and done, we're looking that possibility of getting over three inches of rain for the santa cruz mountains and more than two inches of rain for parts of the north bay and that's the reason why we do have the flash flood w
