smith lived in san ramon. kron 4's j.r. stone was in smith's neighborhood-- where the community is still remembering him as they prepare for his funeral today. >>j.r.: it has been a very difficult week for those who live in this section of san ramon. those who know sergeant tom smith. and the neighborhood where he lived u.s. blacks can be seen all over the place. we're talking about small flags, big flags hanging from a second-floor windows and even little kids carried the u.s. flag. all this in memory of sergeants and mess. and also to show that those here in the neighborhood are in the morning. many of these flags put up by homeowners and others by volunteers. i spoke with one man whose u.s. flag was hanging from his garage. he told me that this has been a very difficult week. he did not think he would even be able to sit a few words without getting an emotional about what has happened. other neighbors told me they won't soon forget sergeant tom smith and these flags are a sign of that. one man says that he did not know s
