joining us now from israel is nbc news foreign correspondent, raf sanchez. i know there are big questions surrounding all of this. let us start with what we know right now, what we can say right now. >> reporter: katy, it's been a little more than 24 hours since that explosion at the hospital in gaza city. a lot of questions, as you say, here's what we know the the israeli military over the course of the day has been presenting evidence that it says shows that it was not an israeli air strike that caused this explosion. it was, in fact, a misfired palestinian rocket. two main pieces of evidence, one, they showed us drone footage. they had a drone over this hospital. when you look at the drone footage, something is missing. that something is a crater, which is what you would expect to see if an israeli heavy bomb, heavy ordinance dropped from a fighter aircraft, had caused this explosion. instead they say there's no crater, minimal damage to the buildings in the surrounding area. the israelis have released what they say is an intercepted conversation between
