abc7 news meteorologist sandhya patel is here with that for us. sandhya.t going to get a break in terms of the heat. >> anytime soon. we are certainly getting a break. i want to show you a live view from our mount tam cam. and as we look at sausalito, richardson bay, san francisco, you can see that that marine layer is back. and it has definitely made an impact on our temperatures running 15 degrees lower than yesterday at this time in napa, 20 degrees cooler in san carlos. but you'll notice livermore is down only 1 degrees now. the winds are picking up onshore 23 at sfo, gusting to 23 in livermore. so if you noticed that near the coast and around the bay, temperatures have really dropped off. this is why satellite radar, live doppler seven showing you the fog near the coast. high pressure is still in control of our weather, and as this ridge continues to dominate for a couple more days, we're going to deal with the hot weather in our inland areas for two more days. looking at the heat risk for tomorrow, it is going to be in the moderate to major category

meteorologist sandhya patel is here. sandhya? >> yeah, it's already started. and that triple digit streak is going to continue for several days. take a look at the 24 hour temperature change. 22 degrees warmer in nevada right now. up 20 in livermore, 15 degrees warmer in san jose. as those temperatures are rising, our air quality is starting to decline. moderate pockets in yellow for parts of the bay area, and there will be poor air quality as we head into not just today, but tomorrow as well. high pressure building in. we don't have really strong winds to mix out our atmosphere, but that is why the air quality will decline. with that ridge of high pressure comes moderate to major heat risk for bayside and inland communities, shaded in oranges and reds. you will notice that parts of solano county is in that major category. as we look at the humidity. it has really plunged 9% in fairfield, 10% in brentwood. so our fire danger is elevated as we head into the next couple of days. a live view from golden gate bridge camera. 74 in the city. it is in the 80s. oaklan

sandhya. yeah. and dan and we're going to continue to feel that sizzle. the next several days as we are in september. and we expect this. take a look at the temperature change compared to 24 hours ago. try 21 degrees warmer right now in livermore. so definitely a significant warm-up up 18 in novato, 15 in san jose, 8 to 10 degrees from oakland to san francisco. if you are stepping out tonight inland areas still pretty hot at 7:00 in the 90s by 9 p.m, dropping into the 80s and at 11 p.m, it's still going to be warm in the 70s around the bay. the sun shining at 7 p.m. in the upper 70s. feels good to be outside around this time as the sea breeze is coming in. temperature dropping off eventually to the 60s and along the coastline starts off clear mid 60s and then some fog starts to develop late tonight, dropping into the 50s. high pressure is starting to take control of our weather with the offshore flow. those temperatures came up once again as we see that happen, we are going to notice that the

so let's get the latest from meteorologist sandhya patel. >> sandhya. >> yeah, it picked up tremendousts of moisture, and it was a powerful storm. so that is why it is still continuing to do catastrophic damage. flooding continues in the appalachians, the tennessee area. it was a historic and catastrophic storm that made landfall in the big bend area of florida last night as a category four, as i mentioned. now, here is the deal. it brought record storm surge record rains. some rainfall totals were a half a foot to almost three feet of rain across parts of the southeast. right now you see a closer view on live doppler seven of the rain with the circulation that just continues. they've already seen the rivers overflowing. flash flood warnings are still going for parts of the carolinas. they also have tornado watch boxes and flash flood watches. still going because there's another system that got into that area, combined with the moisture from what is left of helene. as we take a look at the storm reports hundreds of reports in the last 24 hours, we're talking about not only the deaths.
