meteorologist sandhya patel is here with more. sandhya? >> we'll be facing critical fire conditions this upcoming weekend. a fire weather watch for the north and east bay hills until 12:00 p.m. monday. northeasterly winds could gust up to 50 miles an hour, lowering the humidity 5 to 10%, and that means any fires that do develop will spread rapidly. hour by hour we go, midnight sunday, the winds are still light. wamp them ramp up coming out of the northeast in santa rosa, cloverdale. when it gets gusty like that, it really dries out all the fuels. the vegetation will be dried out. and as a result, the humidity values will go down. not so much sunday at midnight, but watch those humidity values drop to the teens. even the single digits by time we head into sunday afternoon, and again monday morning. this is why fire dangler be elevated this weekend. ama? >> thank you, sandhya. >>> the clock is ticking as search and rescue crews work to find survivors in the devastation left by hurricane michael. at least 14 people are dead. rescued. and 106

meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking where michael is headed now. >> take a look at live doppler 7. michael is over virginia, losing some of its tropical characteristics, but it hasn't stopped the storm from dumping rain, causing flooding. winds are gusty. heavy rain right now across the washington area. tornado watch boxes are up until 11:00 p.m. tonight. so still a threat of tornadoes. right now, it's packing winds of 50 miles per hour, moving quickly northeast at 24 miles an hour. it's about five miles northwest of roanoke rapids, north carolina, expected to move out over the atlantic storm afternoon, and become a depression eventually. but not before dumping more rain. 4 to 7 inches of rain with isolated 9 inch totals are possible. so far, the storm has brought 5 to 10 inches across the southeast. and not only that, the storm surge at apalachicola florida was up to nine feet. that storm surge is coming down. but the danger is not over yet. ama? >> thank you, sandhya. as rescue and recovery operations get under way in florida, local response teams in the bay area are mobilizing.

with more, let's get to sandhya patel. >> take a look at there very large storm.ategory 4 right now. it is closing in on the gulf coast. our live doppler 7 is tracking bands of rain beginning to move in across the florida panhandle. besides the very heavy rain that they are expecting there that could cause flooding issues there arether issues they're concerned about and the storm surge is one of the biggest ones. look at the normal sea level. the storm surge, the wind of the storm pushes that water ashore in case you don't if you're not familiar with it, by the time it res three feet, water overtakes low lying roads and lawns and then as it gets to six feet, water is entering the first floor of many homes. in this situation, this hurricane is expected to bring storm surge as high as 13 feet. when you've got over 12, you're looking at widespread destruction of buildings and that's why this is going to be a life-threatening situation with hurricane michael. a dangerous category 4 storm we are tracking and we hope obviously for the best for those along the gulf coast
