abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel is here to let us know how long it will last. sandy. >> it's going to last. most of this week, believe it or not. so dan and emma, let's take a look at live doppler seven and we'll talk about why we're expecting such nice weather like we started out with today. high pressure is in control of our weather and that's diverting the storm track well to our north. so take a look at the winds because of this ridge of high pressure and where it's placed, we are noticing that the winds are still offshore, blowing from land to sea, 26 miles an hour. mount diablo, atlas peak. and that wind direction is what brings us the warmth. so let's check out temperatures for san jose. tomorrow. you're going to be at 72 degrees when day, thursday, thanksgiving in the low 70s really mild. but by the end of the week, going into next week, we're going to notice that temperature drop off closer to average, which is 64 degrees. so a beautiful view tonight from our san jose camera. as you will notice, all is calm now, while the winds were gusty in the hills

. >> abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel is monitoring that and tracking sandy of the cold weather. we're having. >> absolutely. dan and let's take a look at live doppler seven and we'll talk about the winds as they're pretty light to calm, but the wind direction is pushing some of the smoke from that refinery flaring out towards parts of the coast, the peninsula and the north bay. so it is moderate air quality from air now, which is the official reporting site. but when you take a look at purple air, which is the unofficial site, they have a lot more sensors. you will notice some oranges and reds around, which indicates poor to unhealthy air quality. keep in mind some of this may be due to woodbourne burning as well. now let's talk about the cold since it is going to be a cold night. you can understand why some people may be doing it. a freeze warning from 2 to 9 a.m. for the carquinez strait and delta. temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s. a frost advisory goes up for the north bay valleys 10:00 tonight until 9 a.m. tomorrow. temperatures will be down to 30 degrees. so we are

. >> abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel tracking it live on live doppler seven sandy. >> yeah. and larry and ama right now we are seeing thunderstorms developing right along the san mateo coast. we're checking out live doppler seven. you will see multiple lightning strikes near pacifica, half moon bay area. they've been seeing that thunderstorm developing. i'm going to track this for you. that cell with multiple strikes moving towards daly city. 643 the sunset district at 656. now the rainfall rates with this system have been intensifying. so if you get caught under one of these downpours, i mean, we're talking about over two inches per hour. light to moderate showers right around antioch deer valley road heading out towards highway four. so we are seeing some wet weather beginning to sweep across the bay area. more thunderstorms not out of the question as you will notice, off the coastline. we've been seeing those. it's a light level one storm that has been just parked off california's coastline for days now. and as we time this out for you, the shower activity continues head

abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel is here. sandy, a good bit of rain. any more coming? >> yeah, we have a few more showers coming through here. dan pretty much north of the bay area. i want to show you live doppler seven and you will notice where the wet weather has been focused today. we've had some spotty showers in the santa cruz mountains. the south bay and even parts of the north bay. as we take a look at the wider perspective here, you will notice that there were also thunderstorms north of the bay area and in the sierra nevada, the sierra still seeing some snow showers at this hour. and we take you in and show you the rainfall totals over the last 36 hours, about a half an inch in ukiah. santa rosa picking up 2000/900 of an inch. kent field about a quarter of an inch, five hundredths in san francisco, oakland, san jose, 707 inch. you'll notice livermore about 20/200 and ben lomond in the santa cruz mountains over a half an inch of rain. if you're noticing a little bit of mugginess in the air, it feels a little muggy. you're not imagining things. the dew points ar

so let's get to tales from abc7 news meteorologist sandyha patel. dan and ama, we're hoping that by the end of the week it could actually end our fire season if we get a good amount of rain. >> right now. i want to show you some live pictures from our tower cameras and the one that really stands out, of course, is sutro tower. you will notice the illuminate lights down market street just really putting on a show tonight, welcoming apec visitors as we take a look at live doppler seven, we are tracking a storm that has really just all the right dynamics. cold unstable air behind it, a moisture source ahead of it. the problem is it's what we call a cut off, low. it's going to cut off from the main jet stream. and so it's just going to meander here off our coastline, sending us waves of rain and depending on where it ends up, you may end up with some downpours or you may end up with just some lighter rainfall at times. so here's live, doppler seven rain and some moisture is starting to get picked up off the northern california coast. but we're going to

meteorologist sandyha patel is here to update the forecast. sandy. >> yeah, dan and karina, we're going to take every drop we can get because it is all good for the bay area. let's take a look at a live picture right now from our pier 39 camera where it is just a pretty view as we look towards the ferris wheel there. we did have some rain come through here between last night and this morning. and there were some brief downpours as we had expected. now that all added up some of the wettest spots picking up 6/10 of an inch in kentfield, just under a half an inch in san francisco, oakland, about a quarter of an inch, six hundredths in san jose, 2000/200 in concord. and 2000/600 of an inch in half moon bay. so let's go hour by hour for tomorrow. there will be some spotty showers that pop up at noontime. it's around mendocino county and then you will notice just a couple of showers passing through here at 4:00 pm as a disturbance comes through. this trend continues into the evening hours. and there's another opportunity for seeing some stray shower

meteorologist sandyha patel is tracking what's out there tonight.andy >> yeah, and ama and dan, it's coming down as well. let's take a look at live doppler seven right now. i'm going to show you where we are seeing some heavier rain falling right at this hour from emeryville powell street heading into kensington on regatta boulevard. this is street level radar tracking it for you. it will be in the oakland area at 1122. moraga at 1145 tonight. so definite. be careful if you do head out on the roadways now on from san francisco down the peninsula, you will notice some moderate pockets of rain right around millbrae foster city heading into the redwood shores area and also up in the north bay dry creek road, napa, you're getting some good rain falling right now. area of low pressure is getting closer. we're seeing the intensity pick up and off the coastline. there is some instability. so we're going to put in the possibility of thunder as well. temperatures right now mainly 40s and 50s. so we have traded that winter chill, winter like chill for milder
