and santa cruz county.everal of the burn scars in the santa cruz mountains. good evening. thanks for joining us. i'm ken wayne and i'm pam moore, the atmospheric river continues to pass through our area prompting several weather alerts in our region, the heavy rain causing trees to fall on homes and roads and cars all over the bay area earlier today, santa cruz county announced all evacuation warnings and orders will be extended until tomorrow. >>our reporter rob fladeboe will have information from the santa cruz mountains coming up in just a moment, but first we want to go over to our chief meteorologist lawrence karnow with a look at where the storm is now in lawrence looks like it's pretty much everywhere. yeah, boy really dumb thing around the bay area, especially in the south bay, the santa cruz mountains right now kind of dodged a little bit of a bullet originally the models were forecasting that the storm we get on up in the santa cruz mountain did happen us all the way through

santa cruz mountains under that flash flood watch. scar areas, especially the ccu lightning complex area due to that heavy rain. rapid rise in creeks, rock slides and the potential for debris flow is especially near burn scar areas. we will be watching the winds as well. a high wind warning in effect from 7:00 p.m. today to 7:00 a.m. tomorrow for the san francisco area and for the coast. gusts up to 60 to 70 degrees an hour. damaging winds with this storm. a wind advisory for the rest of the bay area. here is the timeline for the storm. we are looking at that rain to move in this afternoon. the heaviest rain and the strongest winds tonight into tomorrow morning. showers will continue for the rest of your wednesday into thursday. again, it arrives later on today with that heavy rain and strong winds. here we are at noon. that rain first for the north bay and then pushing in to the rest of the bay area. here we are at three in the afternoon. widespread rain. the heaviest rain as we look to tonight and especially as we look to the overni

santa cruz mountains 3 to 4 inches. really lucky there wasn't any major mudslides at least this morning. north coastal mountains 2 to 3 inches. morgan hill 3 inches. this is one location i'm very concerned about tonight as that heavy rainfall continues. santa rosa just over 1.5 inches. san jose 0.83 inch. we are going to be picking up a little bit more tonight and tomorrow. so flash flood watch over the burn zones, the highest risk of those mudslides. and we have crews out and we will be watching that for you. right now the atmospheric river is boomeranging back towards us, getting us a second time. as you can see it lifting up over the south bay right now, and we also have this upper low pressure to the north that's going to bring some thunderstorm chances tomorrow. a lot happening on the weather map. on stormranger and mobile doppler radar, everything is centered towards the south bay right now with this small slice of the atmospheric river coming back. it's at morguing hill and gilroy with heavier rain right now. wat

a little more in the santa cruz mountains.t chance of snow, especially out towards mt. hamilton and locally lower sunday night. so stay tuned to the forecast. now the biggest storm in the series we're likely to see in the seven-day forecast, it's right there on wednesday. it has an atmospheric river connection as it sweeps by to the south. so that has our attention, because we're talking about the potential for some very heavy ra total, especially for some of those burn scars around the santa cruz mountains. an as you head over to the east bay hills, we could be looking at those totals climbing very high with this particular storm set up as we get towards the weekend. it's something we're going have to watch very closely. you see in the seven-day forecast, we're going to be seeing plenty more of those rain showers as we head through this upcoming weekend. so sunday there is your winter blast. and then by the time we get to the middle of next week, that's when i think we'll begin to see the chance of some potentially heavy rain

we're at 59 here in santa rosa. cool day with partly cloudy skies. 57 in martinez. 58 in santa cruz. we've been chatting about that rainfall. we've been talking about it a lot. i think as we move through tomorrow, we're dry through the day. once we hit the evening hours, a weak little system will bring us some showers. but the better bet of rainfall as i've been talking about goes into next week. so sunday night, that next storm system lines up out here offshore. you can see it right there. then as we roll through monday morning, that's when it would bring widespread rainfall back to the bay area. also some snow to the sierra. so monday is the first storm. then as we hit late tuesday night but primarily on wednesday, we'd see that second round of rainfall pushing back into the bay area. so you'll see on my extended forecast this weekend it's only some spotty chances of rain. nothing to worry about. monday is that first storm. the second storm on wednesday. rain totals a half inch to two inches. i think t bheter bet
