the santa clara valley stretching all the way up along the santa cruz mountains to. and here's the reason why. our daytime highs this afternoon are well above average for this time of year. i'll turn on the map so you can see all around me where we're impacted with this heat advisory. but don't let this fool you. spots that aren't highlighted are dealing with 10 to 15 degrees above average as well. i mean, we're talking about santa rosa sitting at 97 degrees today very similar for our friends off into the east bay near antioch and livermore. these daytime highs are well above average for a reason. i mean, we're talking about high pressure building in from offshore, and that's what's keeping us warm for today and tomorrow for the bay and hot throughout those inland areas. here's the good news we cool down fast as we head into our wednesday setup. 60s around the corner, but then we're right back into the 80s heading into friday and now we notice that roller coaster of temperatures, too. for our friends along our inland areas. upper 90s today, mid 90s tomorrow, cooling

bit more dry into the afternoon hours and a little bit sunnier for our friends down in the santa clara valley. with 70s in the forecast today, here's that marine layer slowly pulling back exposing us to that sunshine throughout the santa clara valley. and off into the east bay. around 2:00. we'll continue to see more sunshine until around 7:00, as that marine layer starts to fill its way back into the bay. at that time, we're also going to get gustier conditions too. we kicked off this morning nice and mild, but those wind speeds today could get anywhere up to around 25 to 35mph from bodega bay, down into san francisco and along our coastline down into half moon bay, too. this is just around dinnertime hours tonight, so keep that in mind gusty conditions today, a little bit of cloud cover definitely sticking around longer than usual and cooler weather too. but watch what happens yesterday we were in the mid 80s. today we're in the mid 70s in the forecast and we get right back into the mid 80s as early as wednesday heading into thursday of this week. by friday we see a very similar trend, but

widespread throughout the bay we make our way down into the santa clara valley along the 101 redwood tting at 69 degrees today, 80 down in the santa clara valley near san jose and los gatos. it's a beautiful day to get out there and get some fresh air. that is not what i was saying yesterday as we were still dealing with that heat advisory. but the heat is going to return right around the corner. i'll show you that more in just a second. let's start off with those wind speeds. i just mentioned. as we head into this afternoon. wind speeds could get anywhere up to around 25mph in our inland spots near napa, fairfield and concord. we notice that similar trend along the coast into the evening hours tonight. now let's start off in those inland spots where yesterday the national weather service issued the heat advisory that stuck around for an extra day. it was all throughout monday and tuesday's forecast. now we're getting that nice, cool weather. we see a return to the 80s by thursday seconds close to the triple digits as we head into our friday forecast. with sunny skies too, we continue

so it's a santa clara valley. it's the eastern hills of the santa clara valley. it's also up to the east bay, the valleys in the east bay. also the hills in the east bay and even down to the santa cruz mountains. that heat advisory goes into effect tomorrow morning. at 11 o'clock all the way through 8 o'clock pm and then it goes into effect again on tuesday. again, at 11 o'clock in the morning, all the way through to 8 o'clock. and so there's a heat risk and that's forl especially for people who are sensitive to the heat. people who are outside, especially when the and the very hottest spots where there temperatures in the mid 90's to 100 degrees. so the concern is you need to get hydrated. you need to try and find effective cooling because tomorrow is the hottest day and tuesday, nearly as hot and then the heat risk potential just kind of goes away. very minor in the meantime, temperatures tomorrow. how hot are these temperatures? we hear a few of them. vallejo, 91, 100 degrees in concord. 89 for hayward, but santas a 93 redwood city, 89 degrees. you'll notice a

low 80s stretching up into santa rosa, matched up with the santa clara valley, actually also sitting he low 80s today near san jose. but let's use the santa clara valley as an example real fast. we have some big changes right around the corner heading into the next couple of days, those 80s you see below me. and for the past couple of days in those inland spots, it's going to warm up into triple digit weather right around the corner. here's what's happening. high pressure is moving in from our inland spots, and it's going to heat us up fast within the next couple of days. we keep a very close eye on our heat risk map, especially in areas like solano county stretching all the way down into the santa clara valley, where upper 90s and triple digit weather starts tomorrow. within the next 24 hours, that lasts into our wednesday forecast thursday. we're seeing a similar trend too. so let's take a look at those numbers heading over into our next seven days. we really keep a close eye on those inland spots, especially because many people are going back to work and back to school tomorrow. th

throughout the bay area, but today we're getting right back to average meaning 70 throughout the santa clara valley. a return of the 80s off into the east bay. and for our friends, all the way up into the north bay. well, yesterday we were talking about low 70s anywhere from santa rosa down into novato. but now we have a return of the 80s in the forecast near santa rosa with 70s in the forecast today near san francisco. now, the big weather story for us, honestly, has to do with the winds. today. we're going to get that onshore breeze with wind speeds anywhere up to around 30 to 35mph along the coast. let me show you the numbers right behind me this morning. alone we were already off to a gusty start in bodega bay and san francisco. watch those winds. really highlight those inland spots as we head into this afternoon now we're advancing the clock to 2:00 all the way into the 5:00 hour. as many of us are getting off work and school and heading home, you're going to be dealing with some breezy conditions for outdoor activities maybe after school events. this is what we're talking about about 25 to 30

the fog doesn't push too far into the east bay, but it makes its way into the santa clara valley and of the north bay. that puts the brakes on the warm-up an hour or two and slows down the warm-up enough your temperatures won't be quite as hot as maybe interior portions of the east bay, 100 degrees in antioch. the farther inland in the santa clara valley it's going to be hotter, around 100 in morgan hill, 92 degrees in san jose, 10 degrees above normal, still flirting with 100 degrees east of the oakland hills. those numbers will return to within 2 or 3 degrees of average by saturday and sunday, another day of low 90s for much of the north bay, one more day of 70s in san francisco, around 80 degrees in oakland tomorrow afternoon. check out the seven-day forecast. it's a big change that kicks in. we're back to reasonably warm temperatures saturday and sunday and even a couple days of slightly below average temperatures by tuesday and wednesday next week. the cloud cover is associated with another storm system that will miss us to the north, but close enough to send a few fair weather c

and as we take a look from that black mountain cam over the santa clara valley. daytime highs in that area could hit anywhere from the mid 90s near los gatos, stretching into the upper 90s near san jose. and if you think that's hot, look at the east bay. this afternoon we are expected to hit triple digit weather in communities like livermore up into concord and walnut creek. now making our way closer to oakland, 90s expected today 80s near san francisco, but it was just yesterday. areas like santa rosa and novato were in the upper 70s lower 80s. so san francisco's already hotter than it was yesterday, just up in the north bay. we'll continue to keep a close eye on this heat as we head into the next couple of days. the national weather service has issued a heat advisory for all the highlighted zones and counties on this map, starting tomorrow at 11 a.m., lasting until 11 p.m. on thursday. this is a midweek warm up, and it comes as a surprise for many people who maybe didn't check the forecast over the weekend. here's what's happening right around the corner into t

which is why we'll do a separate and unique seven-day forecast just for the santa clara valley this time around because it will include san jose as kind of the indicator spot for what a lot of those communities in the santa clara valley will have. let's go to the seven-day forecast. we'll start off first by taking a look at the inland microclimate. this is tri valley, concord, the most jarring of all the microclimates monday and tuesday are back up on the verge of 100, probably hold into wednesday. as we approach the middle of next week, the numbers start to come back down again. san jose, here's your seven-day forecast, not quite 100, although some models are trying to push it there. it's like a 3-degree difference. think of it as probably doesn't really matter that much. that's a very hot day. for san jose the average daytime highs for late september are about 80 now. you've really gotten to that time of year you should start feeling a somewhat cooler setup. it will be opposite from that by tuesday and san francisco now also kind of deserves its own seven-day forecast this ti

fell a little bit short today and fell a little bit short in the santa clara valley for another day tomorrowke a look at our forecast high temperatures for the spire bay area. and the rest of the map, we will start with the santa clara valley where temperatures will reach up at least into the mid-90s, if not, the upper 90s. over 100 degrees in morgan hill. widespread triple digit heat east of the oakland hills. 102 in antioch, livermore. getting up to 102 in fairfield and getting up to 104 degrees by tomorrow afternoon. low to mid-90s for fremont and redwood city. temperatures along the coast in the low 70s. that is warmer than normal, but it's a lot closer to where we need to be at this time of the year. back up to around 80 in san francisco. into the mid to upper 80s in oakland and temperatures in the north bay. made it all the way up to 104 degrees tomorrow and a bit reasonable hot. and the heat advisory, almost all of the bay area tomorrow. and that 8 o-degree high temperature is hot and so many folks will lack access to air-conditioning. the heat advisory inland will continue through th

we're actually getting temperatures all the way down into the santa clara valley. also sitting in the 70s it's fall like weather for now, but right around the corner. the first day of fall is actually going to be one of the warmest days this week. so here's what's happening for us today. before we get too ahead of ourselves as we extend all the way into the next couple of hours, we're going to continue to watch some thunderstorm activity develop just in the higher elevated elevated areas south of san jose, south of the santa clara valley, closer to the higher elevated spots next to morgan hill. now, if you live down there, you could potentially see some light showers in the forecast for us in the lower level areas. but for the most part, we're just seeing partly cloudy skies throughout the rest of the day. today, early morning hours. that marine layer fills the bay once again. the reason why we're dealing with that cool weather and active weather too, is because we're getting this surge of cold air moving in from the gulf of alaska. this is just kind of a taste tha

this is the unhealthy for sensitive groups air quality inland in the east bay and santa clara valley with us tomorrow and wednesday. once that improves it's still going to be hot thursday and friday. the heat peaks wednesday, takes a couple days to back off and our air quality will be in the moderate category thursday and friday. looking outside sutro tower towards downtown san francisco, 60s in san francisco, 70s oakland and san jose, 79 degrees in livermore and low 80s in concord and santa rosa. the warm spot on the map is 83 degrees. you would never guess there's going to be that inland heat peaking up to around 100 degrees tomorrow based on these current temperatures. it's going to build in a hurry. let's look where we're going to end up heading into tomorrow afternoon. temperatures start off mostly in the 50s. it's the rapid warm-up that's the cause for concern really spiking with temperatures warming up 40 degrees from where we start off the day into the mid-90s in the santa clara valley, low 90s in fremont and down the peninsula in redwood city, 70s along the coast, half moon

valleys. 11 a.m. tomorrow to 11 to 8 p.m. tomorrow for the santa cruz mountains, to santa clara valley and the eastern santa clara hills and under these conditions, of course, there's an increased risk of heat related illness. so we are advised to drink lots of fluids of course, stay hydrated and avoid over exposure to the heat. but look at tomorrow's projected highs up to and perhaps even above 100 degrees in the warmest inland spots tomorrow. in the low 90s around the bay shoreline, we'll see 75 to about 80 degrees on the coast tomorrow. tuesday, not much different, maybe two degrees less hot instead of a lot of 100 to 101 degree readings inland, we'll have 97, 98, 99 degrees. so this is a two day heat spike. and that heat advisory should be taken seriously. i'll show you when we can expect some cooler, more fall like weather a little bit later. dion. >> all right. sounds good. spencer. thanks. tomorrow we may learn more details about friday night's deadly shooting at vta shibuya yard in south san jose. a vta bus driver was killed and the santa clara county sheriff's office is investigating it as a homicide. authorities say it

the air quality was moderate category east of the oakland hills in the santa clara valley today. it improve more heading through the weekend, still occasionally a little bit of smoke drifting ptions of thy and some of that settling down towards ground level, no worse than moderate air quality and looking pretty good as that stronger onshore breeze kicks in through the weekend. now it's still a very compressed marine layer sneaking through the golden gate. you can still see the towers above the shallow layer of fog. 65 degrees downtown to the 80s in santa rosa and san jose to still mid-90s now in concord and livermore, the sensor has been going in and out, mid- to upper 90s the past few hours. you'll slowly cool off this evening. as shallow as the layer of fog is, it will try to make its way farther inland but not into the tri valley where we find our adoptable dog of the day. this is cali who doesn't seem to mind the hot temperatures based on that big old puppy smile, dublin reaching close to 90 degrees, but temperatures have been near 100 degrees the past few days, 80s pretty go

inland east bay valleys, santa clara valley. if we look at the contrast in microclimates tomorrow across the bay as a whole we do the line from the coast to inland county. this is normally where we look to see how the bay is going to experience things from one extreme to the next. in the middle 70s at the beaches tomorrow. you are not in the heat advisory. you can handle that. a warm beach day. could be a nice beach day, actually. san francisco, lower 80s. berkeley, 80s in the bay. look at what happens over those hills, hundreds for concord and antioch. not far behind. if that is the line it slows us the microclimates. let's take a look. we will say good-bye to that line. i will bring in the overall spread for day time highs tomorrow. this is your monday. it will get better on tuesday. and, then, it is going to be a whole lot better by wednesday. just got to get through two days of this. when we look at the seven-day forecast you will see improvement there. what i want to do, let's come back over here and since we are spotlighti

. >> the santa clara valley water district has won a lawsuit against one of its directors, accused of taking thousands of pages of internal documents. a santa clara county superior court judge ordered valley water director rebecca eisenberg to return a 2000 page report to valley water officials. now this comes after an investigation into allegations of why eisenberg's behavior. back in march, the santa clara valley water board voted to censure eisenberg for misconduct and for removing the documents from the agency's office without permission. the valley water board chair issuing a statement on the lawsuit, saying in part, we are pleased with the judge's ruling requiring director eisenberg to return the confidential reports by meyers nave for santa clara valley water district that resulted in her censure by valley water board of directors. valley water is looking forward to moving on and continuing to do the important water supply, flood protection and environmental work for the community. well, after elton john announced he would not be performing at next month's dreamforce benefit ev

temperatures in the santa clara valley, reaching back up to th mid to upper 90s. farther inland, also more likely to get up over 100 degrees around morgan hill. so that is why we have a heat advisory in effect for most of the bay area tomorrow, even san francisco is included in that heat advisory. not because 80 degrees is particularly hot compared to 102, 104 elsewhere. but because so many folks, they lack air-conditioning within san francisco. so that heat advisory farther inland will continue all the way until thursday because actually the peak of the heat isn't going to occur tomorrow. it will be another degree or two warmer for inland parts of the bay area on thursday. that's when the risk will climb in another category. on thursday it will go along the coast, moderate and orange for most of the bay area. but then into the high or very high categories east of the oakland hills into parts of the santa clara valley on thursday. that's why we're concerned about the duration of this heat wave. it should start to back down at the end of the workweek with temperatu

down into the santa clara valley we go.in the 90s this afternoon and yesterday we were in the 81 degrees in san jose. today? all the way up to 97 degrees and this weather is going to stick around for us in the next couple of days too. you see the heat advisory again just on a flat map. so i can show you more. what's happening is the next couple of days high pressure is moving from offshore and that'sgoing to really dry out the whole bay area and give us well above average temperatures too. so continue to drink lots of water and continue to check in on your loved ones and if you do work outside, many of us do in the bay, try finding that shady spot throughout the afternoon and check in on your friends and your co-workers too. if they're notice -- you are noticing heat exhaustion, or any sort of heat illness, make sure that they are getting under that shady spot. trying to find some way to cool down. and checking in on them throughout the day too. we're going to notice that for our wednesday and thursday forecast. the heat br

valleys, and 11 a.m. tomorrow to 8 p.m. tomorrow night for the santa cruz mountains to santa clara valley in the eastern santa clara hills. we'll have high temperatures ranging from 95 to over 100 degrees. obviously overexposure to that, to that kind of heat can increase the likeness. the chance of heat related illnesse. excuse me. so we've got an onshore flow right now, as evidenced by the marine layer we had this morning. it will redevelop tonight. right now we have gentle breezes blowing onshore about 15 to 20 mile per hour winds. and it's a few degrees warmer right now in most bay area locations than at this time last night, except san francisco and half moon bay, which are 2 to 3 degrees cooler. we see the low clouds beginning to push out over san francisco right now, 58 degrees here in the city, 65 in oakland, hayward 71 8-80 san jose, 72. in redwood city and 55 at half moon bay. and there's another view from mount tam of that low cloud, that one long finger of fog pushing out there, 73 degrees right now in santa rosa, 63 petaluma, napa, also 73. and we have mid to upper 80s at fairfield, concord and livermore. our

sneaking up santa clara valley from south to north. so i'll mention this for the santa cruz mountains. also, maybe morgan hill. keep an eye on. right. there's the line. now, the low is down off of santa barbara, but the moisture coming around that really lit up over paso robles there. and then over towards monterey and just south down towards salinas. so a little bit of activity here in the morning and some of that moisture. now again as the low drifts south it takes that with it. but santa cruz, santa cruz mountains, morgan hill south for the morning lit up over the sierra and then some really good amounts over a half inch at south lake tahoe in the last 24 hours, 50s on the temps here, up in the mountains though 30s and 40s, 38 in mammoth, 37 south lake tahoe with 57/100. that's the south lake tahoe airport. that's impressive for september. i mean, there's still some activity up there, some. so i think some thunderstorm activity will pop up especially more towards the central sierra, though, and also down from about monterey south. th

near livermore, san jose and pretty much all throughout the santa clara valley. why does it feel fall like? and is it going to last into the first day of fall? that's the big question for us this week. we've had this surge of cold air moving in from the gulf of alaska throughout the past couple of days, and this system right here, it's actually a trough of low pressure bringing in more cool air for us heading into this week's forecast. as nice and fall-like as it is, it's not going to last for too much longer. actually, taking a look at the next 6 to 10 days in our long range models this right here is issued by the climate prediction center, and it's showing above normal conditions for all the state of california, or at least along the coastline. as we head into early next week. well, the first day of fall is right around the corner. it's on sunday so let me show you the numbers real fast and how that's going to pan out for us as we head into the next seven days. we're actually expecting mild conditions all week long, but by the weekend we are right back to the 8

half moon bay sitting in the 60s today doesn't look like that off into the santa clara valley though. 90s for one more day down near san jose and los gatos before we cool down fast. heading into our wednesday setup, and the reason why we're cooling down fast within the next 24 hours has to do with some low pressure moving in from offshore. now, the reason why it's been so hot is because there's high pressure inland. this has been keeping us dry and warm all throughout those inland areas throughout the past two days. that's the reason why the national weather service has that heat advisory in effect until 8:00 tonight. but once we head into our forecast tomorrow we cool down quickly. the winds change, and we also get some cloudier conditions too. so with that in mind let's take a quick look at the next seven days. starting off with the bay areas like san francisco across the bay bridge over into oakland, berkeley, you get the drill. we're expecting 80s this afternoon with 60s by the forecast. tomorrow, 70 into thursday. yeah, we have one more day of warm weather into friday, but then i

the fog makes its way into the valleys, the north bay, santa clara valley, not the inland values, thate the hottest temperatures are going to occur. i think the fog in the valleys of the north bay and the santa clara valley dissipates fast enough the temperatures will take off quickly and end up warmer than where we were today. still not record setting, records for tomorrow. look like they will be out of reach. the closer we will be, 8 degrees shy of the daily record in san jose. the record is 104 degrees, let's take a look at the rest of the map and fill in all of the hot temperatures for tomorrow afternoon. we are talking about middle to upper 90s. lower 100s, 102 for the forecast high in morgan hill. not the hot spot, though. east of the oakland hills, 103, 105. the hot spot, in fairfield, in the 90s, 70s for san francisco. the onshore breeze, weaker, the temperatures returning to the 90s, temperatures back down a little bit as we look at the seven-day forecast to see a slight reduction on friday. it will still be hot. then, we are back to closer than normal in time for the weekend
