widespread showers anywhere from santa rosa all the way down into san francisco. all the way down into the santa clara valley too. i also pulled up the daytime highs today to show you that it's going to be a pretty mild day once these showers come to an end. the showers are coming to an end. just around lunchtime today. we're going to see beautiful conditions just in time for christmas eve eve evening activities but christmas morning activities. find something to do inside. i would avoid the roads right now especially if you can just along the shoreline with the winds anywhere up to around 35, 40 miles per hour. here's what's happenings for us as we zoom into the first alert doppler. there's some lighter conditions up in the north bay. we looked at this earlier. still moderate pockets at times in areas like santa rosa all the over into bodega bay right now. stretched down into areas like portola valley and redwood city and palo alto starting to see the more moderate rain fall and continue to watch that develop. here's what's happening as we head all the way from th

mid 30s napa, santa rosa. it's going to get down to 38 in livermore. lier spots and a little bit of fog out towards the delta. if you are traveling, keep that in mind. if santa is delivering those gifts, i don't think he's going to have any problems tomorrow. he will deliver those gifts tomorrow afternoon, upper 40s to the upper 50s around the region. now we're going to fast forward to show you what's going to happen. so overnight tonight, a little bit of fog starts to form in the central valley, spills over tomorrow morning. and then you get that break all day tomorrow, 1230 in the morning on thursday some showers move in 8:00. you will notice just very spotty showers. we really have to wait until thursday night for the widespread light to moderate rain. and that will continue off and on going through the weekend. now, thursday's rain totals will range from about a 10th of an inch to three quarters of an inch. i do want to show you what's beyond that thursday time period. as we head into friday, we will see another storm move in and then that continues

almost 2 inches of rain in mount tam santa rosa over inch of rain almost an inch of rain. francisco downtown, almost an inch of rain. you had the over half an inch in oakland and almost a half an inch in san jose. really a nice soaking storm around the bay area about that next storm. that's on the way. that's going to be much more impressive. we could be looking at another 3 to 5 inches of rain adding up specially on some of the coastal ranges down the valley's young, maybe another 2, maybe 3 inches of rain that goes on top of what they had with some historic rainfall in november. and so things are saturated that we're gonna rapid rises. many of smaller creeks and streams there. we've got to watch the russian river as well long as that storm doesn't stall. we should be okay. but one thing we got going against us. astronomical high tide rolling in. we got the king tides this weekend. so you get the high tides of about 7 feet that backs up all the waterways, all the tributaries. and so water doesn't flow out into the bay in the ocean very easily. and that means those rivers

san rafael, napa, santa rosa, north south of that hardly any. ley, increasing clouds, rain develops. some patchy fog. heaviest by far is out of the north wind turning southerly to about 20 miles an hr and temperatures stuck in the 50s. all right, alex here. i heard you say there's one thing going on. >> there is one thing on westbound 80, which we're going to show the map in just a second. but overall, the commute is in pretty good shape, especially considering it is raining in the north bay and we are expecting some rain later in the morning throughout the bay area. but let's take a look at the maps. you see a lot of green here, which is what we like to see. this one problem is westbound 80 at san pablo dam road. it was a 3 to 4 car crash. it looks like it's in the clearing stages and there's not much backup behind it. so that is good news. we have the usual slow traffic westbound 580 through the altamont pass. but once you get to the as five 8680 interchange, dublin pleasanton things are in good shape. south bay commute in good shape as well. h

well, 9 tenths of an inch by thursday, santa rosa to boulder creek. many areas, half an inch, maybe two-thirds three-quarters of an inch across the bay area. we add to these totals and these numbers are cumulative as we go through friday into saturday, you see a big jump and rainfall accumulations, especially up in santa rosa. you see those reds there that indicates, of course, more stronger amounts of rain, 2 inches by saturday and nevado and and in boulder creek's as we go through time by monday into tuesday, you'll see in a very wet spots, maybe. but give a santa rosa over 3 inches. 1.8, 6 for san francisco. 1.5, 6 for livermore. so, yes, it's going to be wet in terms of temperatures. we're not going to be too impressed with these numbers in the 50's that's no big deal. so we've got mid 50's for the most part, whether you're in the bay shoreline, whether you're in the south bay, whether you're in the east baseball pretty much picture perfect numbers in the 50's in the same chili. but we've been dealing with really above normal temperatures the last

santa rosa, livermore four miles. so the air quality is suffering. stagnant air, moderate air quality for most areas down towards santa cruz. we have poor for sensitive groups. we're trying to show you a live picture from southern california of that wildfire, the franklin fire that is burning in malibu. sorry, we lost the signal there. winds were gusting over 90 miles an hour earlier when that fire exploded. it has definitely been pushed along by critically dry fuels, low humidity and strong santa ana winds. extreme fire weather conditions. earlier malibu fire hills right now 33 miles an hour. malibu 22. so the winds have come down, but the conditions are still not favorable. so a red flag warning going until 6 p.m. tomorrow because of the winds and the dry conditions. a wind advisory until noon tomorrow. the small section here. but those gusty winds can be damaging. we've already seen that elevated risk of fire danger stretching from the malibu area all the way down towards the san diego mexico border. going into tomorrow. let's check out our winds.

santa rosa has had a quarter to a third.int reyes all around, a third to 4/10 of an inch. and that's about the line about marin county really not drifting south yet. expected to later it will. so san francisco oakland will get in on it. but if you're going south, there just won't be much there. if you're north, there's a lot more san francisco, oakland, concord north looks to be the line far less to the south. do have some fog, especially out to tracy. livermore has improved from a quarter mile now to seven. concord three quarters. so there's still some fog. eastern solano, contra costa county. so just out to the valley. watch out for that 40s on most of the temps, a couple of 30s, but mainly 40s to 50 on the temps up in the mountains. south wind pushing south lake tahoe to 43. but they'll get a little bit more snow out of this. you know, after feet on the weekend they'll get about 2 to 4in of snow here with this system. it's not a big system, i would think. i-80 north will probably get more than 50. south a lot of cloud cov
