let's go to nbc's sarah daloff. i was just handed new information that authorities are looking into four acquaintances of the suspect? >> reporter: that is true, tamron tamron. previously we were told it was two acquaintances they were looking into. they wanted to know if they had any indication what the shooter had planned. these were two acquaintances who had gone to buy ammunition with the gunman. now they say it's actually four acquaintances they are looking at. this doesn't necessarily mean they knew of these plans, that they could have stopped him, but they want to know exactly what they knew. we saw the fbi go to an apartment about 20 minutes from here the day before yesterday. this is all part of piecing together this possible motive for the shooter. authorities also saying that they now know he downloaded recordings by anwar al-alaqi. he was that iraqi born cleric that was killed in yemen in 2011. not only did he have the recordings, he also had a cd of sermons. we also learned more about the gunman's uncle
