and bernie sanders neck and neck, but about a third of voters with entrance polls revealed didn't make up their minds until the last minute. back to you guys. >> okay. thanks so much, sarah. joining us now is political analyst larry gerston. larry, how important are these iowa caucuses? >> well, they're important. i mean, in many ways they're important. but look it, it's our first chance to get to see what real voters are doing. that's a really important thing. and out of that falls many of the candidates, because if they don't do well -- and many of them are all in in iowa -- if they don't do well, they've got no money left. if they have no money left, they drop out. so after iowa, you'll see a lot drop out. on the other hand, look, it's 1% of the delegates, just 1%. and everybody talks about the five out of seven less democratic first-place people becoming nominees. only one of them, barack obama, became president. so, you know, you've got to use your pros and cons here. >> so, for people that are not iowans, it seems like a confusing system to weed out candidates because there's a lot of walking around, standing under signs. it's just not what the rest of us are used

sanders is way out front with 31%. i want to return to bloomberg here, sarah, he's bought his position, i mean, you are now in a situationation, is that bad, isn't it? >> it is that bad and will do it through super delegates and not showing in the polls, telemundo showed poll and he doesn't score at the top, we see joe biden, i think that's going to change among democratic voters the more they see, you know, the debates on stage and particularly with latinos and this goes to the republican party as well, you know, this is fastest growing group in the united states, the hispanic, latino vote, and voter and both parties need to do their best to reach out to these groups and particularly the republicans, we have seen it better as the year, this past year reaching out to latino voters in various parts of the country, but we realize now the swamp is showing itself, stuart, this isn't the first time, we see mike bloomberg and joe biden with bigotry and it will have a backlash on that. stuart: let me turn to paris, in 2016 i believe mr. trump got about 8% of the black vote. >> correct. stuart: give me a forecast? >> increase vo

sarah palin. and there was this contrast. we just saw it in the human form, katy tur talking to the activists who were torn between sanders andwa. biden wasn't even part of the conversation. how do you combat that? how do you rebut that? >> first of all, this whole caucus thing is unfair. it's designed by republicans. >> they said it, not us. >> no, seriously. >> its craziest thing i've ever seen. and it just got crazier because now this year you don't even get a second choice if your candidate is viable in the first round. so you good. you go into the bernie corner or you go into the warren corner. you're stuck there all evening until you decide to go home. you don't get to change your mind. i thought the whole point was that neighbors are convincing neighbors to come over. but a lot of the people don't even get to change. what's the point? why not have a primary, just a have a vote? >> republicans have spent a lot of time figuring out a way to keep us from voting. they want fewer people to participate. so i'm looking at this. i'm going yeah, they have a small little sideline thing for shift workers. think of the single mom
