afternoon, forecast looking pretty mild, more mid-70s around downtown san jose. 80s from los gatos and saratogad the tri valley again tomorrow, comfortably mild. mostly in the low 80s. concord, antioch, pittsburg, the warmer spots. out toward fairfield, 70 for oakland. 72 in san mateo. similar story tomorrow with west winds at 17 miles per hour. highs in the mid-60s and north bay temperatures comfortable in the 70s and 80s. you might notice the haze in the skies. wildfires are becoming more widespread to the north and east, nothing impacting the near surface smoke but you can see big fire complexes toward mt. shasta and fresno, the blue fire. above 10,000 feet, the haze you see is coming from the south, from the fires burning in arizona and away from the sierra. but the breathable air not registering a lot of smoke. if the winds shift out of the north we may have to contend with smoke, but right now doesn't look to be a problem. keeping the fog and cooler temperatures around the bay area, if you're going to head toward the sierra, watch out for more thunderstorms into possibly the holiday. comf

it happened saratoga avenue in the city of santa clara. according to fire crews are cleaning employee smelled smoke. and then notice what looked to be an outlet fire. the exact cause is still under investigation. nobody was injured. the national gun rights group is now fighting san jose's attempt to require and annual gun fee and gun liability insurance. if you have a firearm there, the national foundation for gun rights sent a cease and desist letter to mayor sam liccardo and the city council saying the requirements would violate the second amendment. a spokesperson for the group says, quote, right. the u have to pay a tax to exercise is not right at all. you would not dream of imposing a tax to attend church or read a newspaper which are protected by the first amendment, end quote. mayor liccardo is office says the city will move forward with its plans to spite that letter. the city council is expected to vote on the changes in september. >> to the north bay now shoppers in one santa rosa community aren't on edge tonight following a shoo
